It seems that the game online has evolved in the past few years from the standard opening raise from most "skilled" players going from 3-4X to 2.5-3X. When does it just become 2X? I've started to see this a lot more often lately and am wondering what is the best way to attack this raise in the blinds. Essentially unless this is a really tight player, pot odds is dictating a call out of the BB with most hands.

It wont. I think theres more of a shot that itll go back up to 3X-3.5X then 2X pre. The vietcong effect obv.
-
well could it ever become 1.5x - 2x preflop? what is so significant about 3x 4x 2.5x?
pu_s -
because raising 1.5x is possible and all...

How can you raise 1.5x the bb?

i've been raising 1.5x preflop since the 60's and it has been working great!

I was wondering the same thing today, how do you attack the min raise? Ive seen it more and more often as of late and dont really know the optimal way to approach it. Its not just preflop either, ive seen it on all streets...as a bluff and for value, and as a result ive found myself shoving into the nuts and folding the best hand when minraised. im curious to see what people have to say about it.

icurarook uses a good min. raise strategy.Ask him to explain it.

hmmm...how to attack a weak looking raise
1. reraise
2. call, check raise flop
3. call check call flop lead turn
4. fold sometimes your hand sucks and playing OOP is stupid, i think part of the reason these baby raises work well is because people think "i have odds to play 74o OOP" then the flop comes Q93 and they check fold
