The Aviation Club in France offers a 5-5 NL game with a 250 min buy-in no max. There are no electronic shufflers and the dealers are average at best.
The typical play here is utterly horrendous. It is filled with super weak LAG players who consistently overbet marginal hands out of pos PF and AF. Many uber loose LP calling stations etc etc. So my accustomed LAG style is not the optimun play here, its best to just make value bets, play slow, and wait for these donks to hang themselves in the big pots. Also, I've noticed that my image of a young guy with alternative/casual clothing, an eyebrow peircing, and lots of money affects the game. These careless Parisien gamblers are either trying to muscle me out of a pot or call me down to "catch me bluffing," so again forcing me to play a tighter game.
The average stack is around 700 euros so roughly 150 big blinds. I like to come in with at least 1K (200 BB), to have most of them covered and can wait for them to pay me off on my big hands.
The problem here is the rake. They make us pay 20 euros an hour (4 BB/hour) as well as a 2€ for the jackpot which i havn't quite figured out how big of a pot they take it from. Im not sure how many hands we're seeing per hour, whats the average for a B&M without an electronic shuffler, 30? it cant be any more than the average. As far as tipping goes the smallest chip denominations is the 2€ so these gamblers can really get carried away with toking. I as well have been tipping relatively generously here in order at least to make a good first impression, but after discovering the absurdity of the rake I'm beginning to ponder a no-tipping policy.
(apologies for the dealers reading this).
Variance has been a bitch this first week. Im not going to get into stories, so besides your average coolers the money has gone in with the best of it. My question is, how much can I expect to make from this game? Ive never been one to keep records. Last year I made a nice living playing the 2-5 and 5-10 games in vegas and never took notice to the rake or my win rate. Here in Paris though with this silly time drop I've come to question these things. I noticed a recent post suggested that the hourly win rate of 1-2 LV games can be somewhere betzeen 7-14 BB per hour. This of course already accounts for the rake which is dropped from the individual pots. Can i expect the hourly rate of the game I have described to be similair to this reference, perhaps a bit more considering my skill level and weak competition?
Cheers from Paris,

The rake at the Beau in Biloxi is $12 per hour at the 1/2 game. I have made a lot of money at it though cause the play is so bad. so it's beatable i guess.

Damn, thats 6 BB/hour and I thought mine was bad. I know some casinos in Vegas charge per hour but I cant remember off hand where and how much. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

When I played at the Aviation Club, I played the lower limit table, 2/2 I believe. The game is incredibly packed with calling stations and people whose only purpose in life seems to be bluffing all in, so playing your big hands aggressively should get you paid off quite well. That said, it's more of a gentleman's club than a casino elsewhere in the world, and many of the players don't seem to care about the money. It's a good score if you play well, but some of the younger guys there told me there are better places in Paris to play regarding rake. I just wish I could remember where said places are so I could help you, but ask some of the younger guys and they can probably help.

Hmmm it never really occured to me that there may be other card rooms here in Paris. Did a quick search on the CardPlayer and have gotten a list of 7 other addresses and numbers. Thanks for the tip.
