defo nope too muny combonations out there fold wait for betterest chances hopefully 1 on 1 ;))))
after all its only a pair;)) -
Def fold. You should be able to wait and outplay everyone and win the tourney easily!
Seriously though this ridiculous situation would never occur. I have a hard time thinking about what I'd do in an impossible situation....pot odds certainly push a call, especially since there'd be at least some people likely to be sharing the same pair (both have KK or QQ), but since the situation would never come up, I can't really imagine having to make this decision. -
So you call, and win, and you have 100,000 chips with blinds at 25-25. Or you call and lose, and are out, with the best hand, after playing .5 seconds of poker, at a cost of $10,000.
Or you fold, and move to a less retarded table with 9975 chips when everyone but one guy goes broke. -
what if it was 9 japanese girls who won their seat in a gameshow and had to go all in 1st hand.
are you calling then? -
If you lose do you get to go back to the hotel room with 8 of them????
-
Id call just because of the odds. If u give me 9 to one pot odds on pocket aces id call anyday. Not to mention if u win that pot you have a much better chance of winning. If u fold u still have to double up a ton of times to win it with 5600 people in it. I dunno i guess a gamble like that is worth it to me.

90K isn't very much in a tournament where you have to get 60 million. Most chip leaders have around 100K by the end of the first day, so it really isn't that ungodly of a lead to have in 30 seconds.
-
this is basically a test to see if you have a vagina or not.
if you said fold, you do.
p.s. i still love you gus -
an entire days work in 30 seconds is decently ungodly, but i see where everyone is coming from, chances are u are drawing dead because the aces and other str8 cards will all be gone from the all ins. I just dont know if i could resist calling.
edit: yay i passed the vagina test lol -
you CALL for god's sake!
and the blinds start at 25-50, just to make a minor note there.
let's say we have the loosest opponents in the world. here are what aces are against 9 other extremely strong hands, but still requires donkeys to push their chips in with this early in a few cases.

it's enough to say that this scenario is ridiculously hard to find actually occuring in real life, but obviously there are no repeated cards in there, so theoretically it's possible. obv if you're against a few smaller pairs, like if people are dumb enough to put it all-in this early with 77 and it's live, you're not 78%. you'd still be a HUGE favorite against all of these hands even if you took out one of the repeated pairs and inserted one other smaller pair. if you have 100,000 chips after one pot, and get assigned a completely new table as you broke the first table of the day, you'd be in INCREDIBLE shape! to end day 1 with 100k in chips would be nice enough, but to achieve that one mark in such a juicey pot right now would make it a mistake to pass up calling.
i'd say a pro starting out with 10x the starting stack would probably double his chances of winning the tournament, maybe better. he could bully the table relentlessly early on and turn 100k into 150k in a few hours, and if he picks up some big hands in key pots against stacks that are building up to respectable sizes around him, he could be sitting with a mountain of chips at the end of day one.
remember, you're still a long shot to win the tournament even if you fold, so why fold away an opportunity to start out with such a great stack this early? you'd be a large step closer to achieving your goal, even if you're still a long shot to do so.

huge vagina over here.
-
According to the great Phil Hellmuth, mucking this hand would be the correct play. He said he hates getting it in with less than a 10% favorite. NLD guys
-
I was pretty sure blinds started 25-25. Either way... I fold, and me and my vagina play hand #2.
-
if buying into the tournament didn't put a huge blow in my roll, i'd call... if I win i push everyone around at the next table they sit me at, if not... I just wait till next year... (sounds like my life being a Cubs fan and all)
now if I earned my way through a satellite, or I was in a position where i'd rather see the 10k last more than one hand then... hell i would prolly still call... would seem to me like an Omen from the Poker Gods...
They still have an advantage over the other 9, and the whole idea is to go in with the best hand...
I did see something similar to this when I first started playing online. I was playing on party poker in a play money tournament lol. First hand I got AA and 5 people went all in after I made a small raise... of course with it being fake money I was gonna call even if all nine guys came in, but neways the first two cards on the flop were A A.
I just think I would have to take my chances at 100,000 in chips when the blinds are that small, and pray to the Poker God's let them hold up and that my next dealer was just as good as the first lol... -
I call. I've been busted on the first hand of tournaments with crappier cards.
-
Fold... Obviously with a table of donks like this, both case aces are attatched to rags and dead... You will be sucked out on, probably by the 22year old "pro" playing J9os UTG. Yeah. Enough said about this...
-
I've always wondered about this twist (though it is even more unlikely to occur): final table, you're average stacked, and in the BB, entire table goes in; then what?
-
This one was covered extensively a couple days ago.
Complete with links to 2+2 threads with posts by Paul Phillips, Greg Raymer and David Sklansky.
AA is actually a lot closer to 30% to win in this situation. But nothing else comes close to that.
1st hand - Call.
Final Table - I tried to make a case for Fold. Folding assures you of 2nd or at worst 3rd money, so the choice comes down to taking a 30% chance to double your payout ( 2nd $ vs 1st $ ) versus a 70% chance ( if you lose ) to only get 10th.
The 2+2 thread was pretty interesting. -
Easy Fold. Chances are 6 or more people are getting knocked out here. This means you move up a few hundred thousand (even million) dollars by folding your hand.
Ever hear that Steve Miller Band song?? WOOOAAAHHHHHHHHHH Take the money and run. -
The correct play is different for each individual. For a seasoned pro it's easy call. For a regular Joe Schmo who probably won't ever be back to the WSOP I think a fold would produce a better life experience than calling and only winning 30% of the time.
-
No, it starts 25/50.
-
Call,
Id have to snip my sack if I fold A/A Preflop. -
Fold. I'm well over 50% to lose this hand, and i don't want to push all of my chips in expecting to lose more than half the time if i can avoid it.
-
Part of the issue is i play poker for more than just money, i also play for enjoyment. I'm not sure that a 70% chance of going broke is worth having slightly less than .2% of the chips in play 2 full days away from the money and a week away from the final table. I'm positive that the value i'd gain from having those chips 30% of the time is not worth the value i'd lose 70% of the time by ending my WSOP experience in one hand. As someone else mentioned, it's difference if you've got the money to play these big tournaments month after month, each individual tournament no longer matters. If the tournament itself matters to you, then 30% to stay alive is not good odds on the first hand.
-
I am probably not the only one who has seen this situation before but I had a similar first hand in a SNG the other day. I was dealt AA and had four limpers ahead of me then a raiser. I re-raised. All limpers called and the raisers went all in. I called as did all the limpers. Raiser had KK, limpers had QQ, JJ, 10-10 and 7-7. The 10s hit a straight. I had never seen a hand with so many pairs, let alone big pairs. Even though I lost, I think I would still call everytime with AA.
-
I will never fold Aces preflop to a raise regardless of the situation. EVER. You are forcing your opponent to get lucky and outdraw you. You have the significant advantage over ANY other 2 cards they could be pushing with. I'll take my chances in that spot or any other spot. If i lose, I can still sleep well knowing I made the right play in the end.
