I've noticed that they have no "tourney" tab as of today.
Some on the site say they will NEVER have tourneys again
and may shut down for good.
Tell me what you know. -
I live chatted with them and they said it was down for maitenance and there was an email a few days back that said they were doing upgrades. And they have just did an upgrade so I would imagine they wouldnt go through that trouble if they were gonna close down.
-
It's possible they are setting it up so that tourney fees go back to you the following Monday, like the rake does.
-
No Rake = No site

I ve been playing at WorldPX for the last 2 months. Believe me they arent shutting down...IN FACT they are putting even MORE money into the poker site.
They just upgraded the software its less laggy buggy now.
The MTT's are down because of upgrade they are fixing the rake problem they had b4 with MTT's thats all.
I have over $8,000 in rake back since i joined 10 weeks ago. I love this site and feel like im being mugged everytime I play a cash game anywhere else. By the end of the year I may be able to buy a BMW with the rake I save!

Jennifear is correct.
I was informed by them that they will be returning rake for tournaments to players.

( WorldPX Shutting down?..... fabricated headlines like this are usually reserved for the National Enquirer or the Globe ) -
I deposited there a month or so ago and made the prop bet on the Grinder (it was a sick deal at the time at +150)...I never played there until last week. I ended up getting $199 in rakeback and $249 in winnings. I mean to almost double profits is pretty nice. This was about 15 hours of play. I'm a bonus whoring fool and I've never cleared that much bonus in a week (keep in mind I don't play all that much).
It might take some time to build traffic there but something tells me that once playeres give the site a nice week long test run they will be playing cash games there a lot more.
I think SnG and MTT players are going to stay at stars, dice, etc but for cash games it's almost crazy playing elsewhere. For the guys that play 50/100nl the rake isnt all that big of a deal but if you play 2/4-10/20...or lower..it's pretty huge. -
SURE IS
-
The problem I found is that WorldPX doesn't have many fish. I played a 10-20 Limit game for a while to try it out and there wasn't nearly as much bad play as you'd see at stars or party. The money you save on rake might not make up for lost profits of having more bad players around.. hopefully that will change as the site grows in popularity.
-
This is true because much of the pubilicity has been aimed at places with people with more than just a casual relationship with poker.
-
Exactly. The guys playing there read it about here, or on 2+2, or Cardplayer magazine. They are people deeply interested in the game who have probably read their fair share of poker books and logged a lot of hours. There are not many people on the site that just saw some advertisement on TV like for party poker, deposited $500 and gave it a go..
-
U have inspired me to email worldpx and tell them we would like more mainstream advertising
-
That would be nice.. :) But with no rake, who knows how much of their own $ they're willing to put forth into marketing. I am thinking they are hoping for a lot of word of mouth advertising.. they probably only put marketing $ into their sportsbook, not the poker room. Only some of those guys filter through to the poker site..
-
I would agree with this to a point...I think when you are playing the higher games this is going to be the case because there just isnt as much traffic there as of yet. Bad players are less likely to sit in shorthanded games.
But on the other side of things you do have some crossover business from the sports book. It's not like bodog was when it first went live and it was full of sportsbetters giving poker a try but there are some that come over.
At any site you really have to start filling the games up from the bottom up for the site to grow...WPX just doesnt have enough players at this point to support good 10/20 games at this point I guess. -
I'm not a big sports better but I do make a few from time to time...going forward I'm doing all my sports bets with WPX to just support them. Plus they have much better lines than bodog anyway.
