  1. I tell ya I have a knack for playing perfect poker for hours on end, put myself in a position to win a tournament, and then do something stupid and finish just out of the money or barely in the money when I should have made top 5 at least. I feel like I've finished on the money bubble so many times today, and everytime, there's absolutely no reason why I did not cash other than my own stupidity.

My lastest self implosion was so bad, I felt the need to display it in a public forum so that I can be made fun of and told how much of a moron I am.

Let me set the stage, 180 player S&G, 14 players left, I'm #2 overall chip leader with just over $20K in chips. I was next one out in 14th place.

    For everyone's enjoyment:

For the record, the guy had be raising just about every hand, I decided to defend my blind with the 67, checked the flop, allowed him to throw in his usual continuation bet, and then come over the top. I knew the flop didn't help him, and I felt he was weak (in fact, he had exactly what I thought he had, ace high)..... Either he made the best call OF ALL TIME with ace high there, or he made the worst call ever, but either way it was a dumb -EV move on my part trying to get fancy when there was no reason for it. I still had allot of ways to win the hand with any 5, 6, or 7, but ace high takes it down and I lose a coinflip on the next hand to be out of the tournament in 14th place. Just plain dumb. AND THATS NOT THE FIRST TIME!!! lmao

    *let the flames begin*
  2. You have to admit he made the good call. He couldn't put you ona4X(since its unlikely it would be played like that). I guess hedoubtedapocket pair either since its likely he would havebeenreraisedpreflop. If you somehow had the pair 2s, he waswillingto takethe gamble and be the favourite or still have a 30%chanceofwinning the pot.

A slick way to play it would chk call the flop. Lead out for the same bet onthe turn. He'll be kind of dumbfound and just fold rather than riskwhat you could potentially have.
  3. bad beat
  4. Actually that's exactly how I would have played 4x, check the flop, let him make his c-bet, then come over the top. I knew he was weak, and since I was in the BB, it was quite possible I could show up with a 2 or 4 in my hand, or even a very weak PP. I doubt he even considered that, he had AQ and it didn't matter what the board showed, he was playing for all his money.

Your right though, should have just called** the mandatory pre-flop raise, floated on the flop, then make my steal attempt on the turn. Though he probably would have still called, cause he would have certaionly bet again commiting himself even more to that ace high.

    **should have just folded.
