  1. I was railing a friend last night at out local casino. Basically my friend had 12BBs on the button and opened from the button with KQ to 3 x . BB who was a big fat obnoxious guy shipped in my friend (who is obv never raise/folding 12bbs) my friend the stated "I don't have enough to fold, I call" he then pushed his chips into the middle and turned over his hand. The BB then proceeded to muck his hand. My friend then said "What are you doing I called". The BB said "no you didn't you folded" after alot of hooha two of the dealers were called over for a ruling. Please note that this was a self dealt tournament so there were no dealers at present. Both players told there side of the story with the BB who kept on stating "All i heard was fold, he said the word fold, therefore his hand is dead". Three other players at the table confirmed exactly what my friend said and both dealers confirmed that because the BB mucked his hand the pot went to my friend. The BB was not having this and kept on arguing his rediculous point. After a while the manager of the casino came over, heard both sides of the story and agreed that because the BB's hand hit the muck his hand was dead and that the pot should go to my friend. Now the BB was one big fucka and by this time was getting very agressive and still trying to get across his rediculous, non logical point. Then all of a sudden the manager of the casino then states "Okay take your last bet back and just continue as if the hand never occured". WTF, I have never seen a worse ruling and in my opinion the manager completley bottled it because the guy was built like a brick shithouse. I mean come on. Who have you ever seen in your life say "I fold" then push there chips in the middle and turn there hand face up. It was obv to me that the BB was a donk and obv reshipped my friend with something awful like QJ or KJ.
Needles to say this tilted my friend quite hard and he ended up bubbling. This tilted me quite hard as i had a percentage on my friend and just felt like a rant and to see if anyone has witnessed anything like this before in a casino or even worse.

And apologies if this should have been posted in bad beats or OT

    ^This.

Are you sure this was a local casino and not a local illegal cardroom? I'm almost 100% sure that there is no legit casino around that allows self-dealing for anything. If so, you pretty much are screwed no matter what.
  5. Apologies about the paragraphs.

  6. After your friend got knocked out, he should have gone over and talked to that manager. Explain, calmly, that if he can't make the right decision because he is afraid of someone who is big and intimidating, then he needs to quit. I would be looking for some type of "make up" - whether its my entry fee, a free drink - something.

That said - the bully had already stated he put your friend all in and your friend called. If the bully's cards were easily identifiable, then why not have the hand continue? Neither player had any decisions left - so why not let the hand play out.

  7. lol that is terrible, and in the UK grosvenor casinos offer self dealt daily tournaments until you reach the ft so yeh it is legal. i actually had a bad ruling imo at my local university donkament, where the tourn directors are guys who have no clue about poker.
i was in a 3-way hand as shortstack, i got all in on flop, both called i think about 1500, they each had about 3000 behind. At which point one of the guys flipped over his hand (this guy is a comittee member which makes it even better). i was unsure about the actual ruling but asssumed his hand should be dead, the dumb fcks of the comittee decided that betting should stop and they were allowed to check it down, wtf????. the guy who flipped his hand over hit nut flush on river and i was busted (i would have beat other player in pot which makes this ruling ridiculous)
It was only a Ł3 buyin but i was so fummming!!!
  8. Exactly thats what I said. It was obvious to me and everyone at the table that the reason the guy wanted my friends hand dead was because he was crushed. I actually had a quiet word with the manager after who then said "If there was a dealer it would be a no brainer" He didn't reimburs my friend, so all in all a load of BS!

  9. I would complain to the managment and to whomever the commission who over sees that cardroom/casino.

That is complete BS and your buddy was robbed.

  13. Terrible ruling, yes. But your friend's speech is completely unnecessary. Just snap call like he was going to do anyway and he doesn't run into this problem.
  14. This doesnt suprise me, Ive played so much a Greektown in Detroit that Ive seen quite a few bad rulings. A couple weeks ago I witnessed a floor person arguing with the poker room manager about the correct ruling for a situation, lol, you would think they would all be on the same page and know the rules, but I guess people interpret things differently.

One time the dealer mucked a guys cards on accident, and the guy called the floor so the guy points out his two cards cause they were not totally mixed in yet and the floor pulls them out still face down and tells the guy to wisper to him what his cards were and if those two cards are what you tell me then your hand is live...lol wat

lol....great statement...Saying half a sentence prelude before "I call"...You've honestly never said anything to that effect before an all-in call.
  16. Sure. But not when it's 100% certain I'm going to call and the word "fold" is included in the sentence.
