  1. final table , live event. small $20.00 buy in.

we are down to 7 and all 7 of us are in the money.

    Here are the prizes roughly: 1st-500 2nd-$270 3rd-170 4th-100 5th -60

    6 and 7th both pay $30.00.

i am big blind, and blinds are 1000/2000, i have around 26K, probably 3rd in chips.

UTG raises to 4K, UTG +1 , supershort stack pushes all in for 8K, next guy (CL) pushes all in for like 40K, now its folded around to small blind , who then PUSHES all in for around 17K, now its up to me and I look down and see KK!!! this is now unbelievable and im really not sure what to do and i think for a moment.

Considering the small buy in and the prizes how would the poker community play this tough hand... Can i fold preflop?, or gamble for the CL.....

    RESULTS ARE ON THE BOTTOM:
  2. if you fold, you should quit poker immed.
  3. put it this way, i didn't fold.....

  4. i will post the hand results soon, but i was wondering what thoughts would be going thru your head if you where in this position....is it a snap call or a "thought" call.

  5. it's a snap call and high five everyone around you, unless someone exposes their cards and they are exactly AA.
  6. you call and get shown A 10 by short stack....Q Q to the guy who shoved for 40k.....A K to the SB you also shoved your K K....and it actually held
  7. You CALL! At worst you're playing a side pot w/ the CL for 20K and he is the one most likely to have the 3rd best hand. UTG raiser could have a lot of aces or anything really. the shortstack quite possible any ace/ broadway cards/small PP.

CL is probably shoving to kill action in front of him and so I would highly doubt he has AA. And you're having him dominated b/c action in front you suggests a lot of aces so even if he has AQ he might only have 1 Ace left in the deck. And if he doesn't have an ace you're an 80-20 fav to get most of your money back (26K right now and if you win the side pot w/ CL you have 18K). You have to call and just hope the CL doesn't suckout on you.
  8. Plus...

    UTG raises to 3K

You can't raise to 3K w/ blinds at 1K/2K. So after you lose just call a foul for a redeal b/c the guy raised an incorrect amount lol.
  9. by the way the UTG raise was 4K, i made a mistake, ty. and your response was really great reading. Nice way to think things out. Most of your thoughts where what i was thinking in regards to side pots and stuff... ill post results in 10 min.

  10. Saxton, you where correct about one thing, the initial raiser (UTG), folded and we ended up going 4 way after i called...(I did take around 45 seconds though), but you where incorrect on your hand prediction (but i do like your thinking)......

but Lehman was closer....the CL did INDEED have the 3rd best hand, as he predicted....

    UTG +1 (Short stacked) has 10 10
    CL has JJ

    small blind shows AA
    and i have KK

now im hoping to get that side pot of 19K that Lehman was talking about if i don't win the hand..

    the FLOP is 3 A K rainbow turn 5 river 8

UTG inital raiser said he folded 10 10 as well!!!!

i get side pot, put the CL on tilt, he finishes 5th....and the remaining 4 of us chop and get around 255 each....not bad.

  11. ton of other factors to consider that aren't mentioned:

    1) what's the disparity between chip leaders and the rest of the field? if winning this hand wouldn't make an impact on making top 2, one could make a case for guaranteed money

    2) 26,000 is still borderline decent to make some moves up the pay ladder, you still have more than one bullet: blind steal/shove, re-steal, etc.

    3) most importantly, how tight/loose is your table? not just for now, but for after this hand. If you'll end up gambling with A-J vs a donk's Ace weak later on in the tournament you should play here.
