  1. 18-man SNG, top 4 get paid, 5 players left. After posting the BB I am in last place and was planning on going all-in after seeing AK in the hole. Button goes all-in and after using 30 seconds of his time bank SB(and chip leader) calls. I had already checked the "call any" button after the button went all-in but while the SB was taking his time I was thinking and decided to uncheck it. Once he called I decided to fold. My reasoning was that I had a feeling that the SB had a real hand as although he was chip leader he was still playing somewhat tight. If I fold and the SB wins the hand, the bubble is burst and I get 4th at worst case scenario. If I call, even though I have AK, it is still a drawing hand and with 2 opponents I was guessing that 1 of them had a pocket pair. I also factored into the decision the fact that I play really well with a short stack. As it turned out the SB eliminated the button like I had hoped, but if I had been in the hand I would have won the hand and moved up to 2nd place. In the end I placed 2nd anyways, but am unsure whether I made the proper decision or not. What would you have done in this same situation and why?

  2. This is a tough one. Going stictly by the book with no info on the other players tendencies, probably correct fold. Worst case is that one of them has a pocket pair and then you are racing for your tournament life when folding will get you into the money. Best case was what you saw, you had big stack dominated and the shover was doing it with any two.

If you want to make sure you cash then it was the right fold.

If you feel like gambling and trying for the triple up, this is about as good a spot as you are going to get: over 3:1 on your money with AK.
  3. my advice would be to not click the "call any" button.

and my advice in the hand would be to get it in, but i cant fold a hand so im most likely wrong.
  4. play to win...insta call...who gives a fck about 4th
  5. ya i dont fold good hands on the bubble, cuz i play to win.
  6. This is tough, depending on your ranges for people, I think you have to fold this. Likely, your up against a pair and someone that has an Ace (or a King). So, one of your outs is gone, and you have to catch to win. Without reads (or thinking the chip leader is tight) it's a good fold. You can't be results oriented, making this fold, a good 1/3 of the time, you'll have won the hand. But, that doesn't matter.

Plus, you got exactly what you wanted here, Yeahbaby won the hand, and now your in the money.
  7. This is a call, mostly because of the payout structure of 4-3-2-1.

In a one table SNG with 4 left, and a 5-3-2 payout structure, this would often be a fold.
  8. This really is tough because you have less than 5bbs, and there are antes, and you have already paid the blind, but at the same time you generally don't want to go calling all ins as the short stack on the bubble when 2 players are already all in! Ugh. With AK and less than 5 bbs - I think I would likely call - of course this may not be correct ICM wise though. If I had say even 7bbs I would definitely fold here. But in this situation you are getting VERY short...
  9. Fold to the money skeet to win!
  10. play to win?

why win when you can get your buy-in back! woohoooo

  11. you live and die by ak push that son of a bitch in there and pray
  12. the only tough decision in this hand is between calling and insta-calling.

also, nothing that went on in this hand makes me think, in any way, that you dont have the best hand (that one of them has a pair).......I think the fold is horrid to be completely honest.

  13. Skeet skeet!

    Insta-skeet...
  14. instacall phil hellmuth style
     1
  15. This is an insta-call to me. The button can shove any two cards, and the small blind can can with almost any ace. A-K has a lot of hands dominated. Send the money in and play for first.

  16. agree with GB2005 here.

Instacall like hellmuth when the dealer found "a jack for the live one" in the 2005 WSOP ME

  17. yeah, call here, but like jennifear said, probably a fold on a one table. people are saying insta call, and if it was a mtt it would obv be. but your are playing to cash many times in a sng.
  18. I would have played it just because your really low on chips, and I always try to win SNG's if I lose out on the bubble I am mad but I always try to win so you have to gamble at some point and you were really low on chips with the blinds at 300/600, but as it turned out you still made 2nd place money good job.
