  1. A couple of items from the WPT event shown on the Travel Channel last night that I thought I would offer up for comment.

    1. One of the amateur players folded AK on the button after there had been a raise and a large reraise (the reraise was by the tightest player at the table). Sexton seemed to give the player who folded the AK grief for it, but I was not so sure that it was a terrible play. Any thoughts?

    2. During three handed play, the UTG player made a standard raise and the SB went All In. The UTG player asks, "Can you bear AJ"? Since he actually had AJ, I thought there problems with discussing your actual hand. But since I do not play live events, I thought I would get comments other players on the issue.
  2. I think it was indeed a bad fold. The guy was playing horribly. You can't assume the original raiser was going to call. I think Mike was correct, the guy was playing to move up spots. The guy was a donkey and I am certain Mike factored this into his analysis.

they were saying that because all action was complete it was OK. I don't believe everyone would rule this way and Matt Savage has said he thinks its a penalty. It is hard to penalize three handed but it has been done and you will see it in an upcoming PPT episode.
  3. 1. It wasn't a terrible play

    2. Kathy Liebert fold AJ and then the other guy said "Can you beat AJ"
At that point Liebert said "you have AJ"

Kinda not cool to do, but not illegal
  4. Hey, I didn't see this episode yet.

On #1 - what did the original raiser have and what did the reraiser have when the button folded his AK?
As you said, it may not have been a bad play to fold considering there was already a raise and a reraise. If he had a read on the reraiser (who you said was the tightest player at the table) and he thought he really had a premium hand like AA KK or QQ. Also, maybe he wanted to let the 2 players go at it if he would move up in the money if one was eliminated and if that move up was for a significant amount of money.

On #2 - You're right. You can not state your hand. And you're really not supposed to ask players about their hands (etiquete wise), but players do it all the time to try and get a read on the reaction of the other player. If it went down the way you said, he asked the player "can you beat AJ", but didn't say "I have AJ can you beat that" the second question would be illegal by tourney rules and the hand could be declared dead.
  5. #1- Folding AK with what took place in front of him is NOT a bad play.... Sexton gave him heat. Weirdly enough, and correctly stated, Van Patten said that the A/K is not a made hand, raise and reraise in front of him, original raiser was Kathy Leibert with short to moderate stack and he was sitting pretty w/lots of chips and could afford to let one of them go at each other.... Good fold... AK isn't gold, getting away from it is hard but should be done in the right situations...this was one.

#2- The older guy, Festejo, said "can you beat A/J?" He didn't say he had it... he didn't say he had it even when Kathy asked him directly...

#3- Kathy Liebert should've kept her big fat horse mouth shut while the action was going on during the hand... she intentionally made a point to make it known that she had the same hand. Now the fact that the older guy didn't pick-up on it was sad, but older guy was swinging for the fences the whole night, so it probably didn't matter if he knew Kathy folded A/J or not...

#4- Lastly, Kathy Liebert bugs the F out of me....
  6. The AK wasn't a horrible fold but I think Mike was viewing it in totality. The guy was not good as he proved later on. I hope he is smart enough to realize he lucked his ass off.
  7. Was this the same Borgata tourney when NSXT2 and Matusow played that crazy hand where Matusow had T2 and NSXT2 had AT? Did they show it at all? It took place relatively early in the tournament for a 300,000 chip pot.
  8. I know sheets got some camera love.
  9. if i were the guy with QQ i wouldve punched kathy liebert in the face
