  1. $10,000 adjusted for inflation from 1974-5 is well over $50k. Isn't it about time to increase the buy in for the main event. I mean, back when doyle won back to back, $10k was a ton of chedder, you could buy a house and a car with that kind of money. I am surprised more people aren't calling for an increase in the buy in, especially the well known pros. With the internet satelites, and growth in poker, it probably would still be a huge field, but maybe could keep it more managable.

    What do y'all think?

"...and two in times of war."
  2. i agree
  3. I agree, but they are making SOOOOOO much money from it at 10k, they won't ever change it. That's why they made a 50k Horse event

  4. Yeah, and when they were playing it, there were like 60 guys in it. So they didn't win shit anyways.

  5. Doesn't the 10K go into the prizepool?? I know about all the residual publicity and side game money, but what do they actually make on the buy-ins at the main event??
  6. Well, actually there was less than that, in Doyles first win i think there were 22 players, for first place of $220,000.00 or about 1.1 Million in todays money. I wouldn't exactly call that not winning shit.

  7. From the WSOP website:

"6% of the total entry pool will be withheld."

So apparently only $9400 of the 10k is going into prize pool

  8. yes but it wasnt winner take all so first place couldnt have been 220K
  9. I've thought the same thing in terms of inflation. Being that I sux too badly to even make the 10k event, 50k would at least get me to quit wasting time trying.
