  1. Okay, so according to PokerNews, before heads up play was set to begin (right after guy busted in 3rd place), the two remaining players deicded to chop the tournament. That isnt TOO odd, however they DIDNT play out the tourney to see who would take the bracelet, apparently it was part of the chop. So when the guy busted in 3rd place, they chopped and declared Ernest Bennett the champion.

Does anyone else (on a theoretical level) think that this is completely wrong? I have no problem with chopping a tourney, but to give someone the bracelet as part of the chop without even seeing a single hand of HU poker @ the FT. I dont get it.

    Thoughts?
  2. probably didn't want to miss the earlybird special
  3. Sounds like they found a deal they both could live with.
  4. Silly, this event only gives out a medibracelet... since the other player had no serious illnesses, he just passed it along.

  5. since the players put up the money in poker tournaments, there really should not be any rules against stuff like this, if the players involved agree, that is all that should matter
  6. ^^^agree

  7. dude matlock was prolly comin on in like 5 minutes and we all know old people cant resist matlock. Also they old so who cares who gets the bracelet as it will prolly be in some grave within 3 years anyway.
  8. ^^^^^classy.
  9. Everything has a value.

    Even a bracelet.

Players should be able to chop however they want, until someone else is adding $$$ or other value to the prizepool.
Then whoever is adding the money can decide what and how can/can't be chopped.

Besides, the bracelet itself is just that...a bracelet.

Theres a difference between owning a bracelet and being a bracelet winner.
Neither one of these players will ever really be able to claim themselves a bracelet winner(at least not because of this tournament).
  10. I'm currently finally reading "One of a Kind". Whenever someone mentions a chop deal, I think about how Stuey handled it when asked. He just said let's put 1st and 2nd place $ all on the table, and winner take all. Now that's the way to handle a chop offer!
  11. My only objection to this chop is that Bennett is considered a bracelet WINNER, and will forever be in the poker annals as such. I agree that a chop is perfectly acceptable, but I dont think the bracelet should be part of it.

Furthermore I would really LOVE to find out what exactly the chop was. I guess guy who took 2nd place was more interested in the $, obviously, but I wonder what the bracelet equity was in Bennett's eyes. Im not sure why they didnt chop it then play it out for the bracelet, that would seem TO ME to be the best possible scenario. To each his own though.

  13. Im guessing that the leader made a more equal chop in return for the bracelet... That is perfectly fine and he should be considered champion.

As part of the chop deal for the short stack, he receives compensation above and beyond his current position in return for conceding the tournament.

To tell you the truth, he probably made a pretty sweet deal (not knowing the chip chop details)

A bracelet has a ton of value, probably more to an old timer.
  14. ya, im really interested what the bracelet was pawned for
