Jamie Gold is an embarrassment to the poker world.
Tell us something new pleez. -
Unbelievable how many people on this thread say they have no problem with Gold dumping off like this. Are there really that many ignorant players on P5? It is straight up against the rules and he should definately have been penalized in some way. You can't just do whatever you want with your chips because you paid the entry fee, you still must obey the rules. LOL at no-rule-aments!

I have no problem with people thinking what he did was stupid and that he's a jackass. It was, and he likely is one. That doesn't mean it's normal for a bunch of random p5's witherists to freak the fuck out about it. Chill out bros. I don't think I could ever be so infuriated at something that really doesn't affect me at all.

tbh my disgust was more that in this modern era it is expected that the WSOP ME winner is seen as an ambassador or poker. Obviously the likes of Scotty N and Russ Hamilton don't help this caise either but the media was not then what it is today. ME Champions have a high public profile (although I would not say his is). There is a history across many sports where when a "champion" (and I use that word loosely in this case) repeatedly does stupid acts like this - all of a sudden every1 has an excuse to do the same.
If he had said "Thanks, I just won a massive prop bet and have to be somewhere else so I will be blinding out" to the guys / gals at the table I have no problem and I think that 99% of the people ITT would have no problem. In fact we would all be laughing at the equity he was throwing away (particularly if he was stacked). FWIW I have no problems with prop bets - they r entertaining and often a good motivator, but I just felt he could have handled it better -
He didn't have a "backer" when he won the ME. He had a verbal deal with Crispin Leyser for 1/2 of any cash he made in tourney.

OMG i won a prop bet, I'm just like phil Ivey!! I don't think people are over reacting at all, and honestly there is no way to prove he wasn't colluding so he should be penalized in some way. It's just like when you check the nuts on the river, you receive a penalty, action like this should be met with some type of consequence. Jamie gold is not a nice guy, he just appears that way to people naive enough to buy up the bs he is selling. His whole act is tired and there is a reason he went busto.

So Jamie is NOT broke as believed by the majority of people that post on this site
-
wish there were alot more jamies in the world
-
He's the reason people say "anyone can win in poker it's all luck." But then again, he's the kind of player we like to play against right? :-p

Yea I see your point, personally I cant go with the freak out either. The internet tends to magnify reactions, but hey if its a love for the game that inspired the freakout then w\e im ok with that. I do think it gets a WTF, I mean any argument he has tool tendencies? anyway, Gags has a point, rules aren't rules if there not uniformly enforced. Then again when is the last time any celeb\semi-celeb played the game of life by them anyway?

I do think it presents a problem because we can never be 100% sure that he wasn't dumping to a friend\partner. TBH the likelihood of that in a MTT is gotta be small but still, just can't be sure if you let people dump.
