Ok flame away but what is tonights event all about? what is a 3x shootout? thanks
-
3 single table freezeouts. you win the first table, advance to the next round. You win all three rounds and you win the tournament.
-
triple shootout. you win your first table, move onto the 2nd, win that, move on to FT.
-
You play your first table down to one winner. Everybody that winns is now in the money. Once all of the tables have been played out they re-organize into 9-man tables again and play down to one winner. You have to outright win 2 tables and then you are at the final table. Chips carry over from table to table, so if one table only has 8 players, you have an easier time winning your table that round but you will start with less chips in the next round. It is essentially like a series of sng's with the one winner advancing.
-
Oh wow thanks. This sounds like a lot of fun but really hard, anybody playing it ?
-
The starting with less chips in the next round isn't right. Everyone starts with the same number of chips each round.
-
I can't say for sure what they are doing in this tournament, but in most FT shootouts and in the qualifiers chip stacks carried over. When I won my seat, the final table started 3 handed, two of us had 12000 chips and the 3rd had 13500 chips to start with 2 seats awarded. This is taken directly from the website.

Chip Stacks

In most shootout tournaments, players will carry their chip stacks from table to table the same they would in any other tournament. In these cases, blind levels will automatically be adjusted at the start of the next round based on the average chip stack of the remaining players. Players will then, on average, start each round with the same starting chips to big blind ratio as they had in Round 1.
If the chips do not carry over, every player will start each new table with an equal chip stack and the blind structure will be the same as in the first round."
Regardless if they carry over or not for this tournament, I don't think it will be a problem b/c they are capping it at 729 entries which I have to assume it will get capped. Therefore every table will have the same amount of chips regardless. -
That would really suck if you made it to the final table and had to start with less chips than everyone else. I would think that the last paragraph will apply to a FTOPS event.

They def. wouldn't make it so the chips carried over with one player starting with less than another.
-
I disagree. We would (and did). Why do you think we wouldn't? It's a perfectly fair method.

There's a decent chance it won't matter, since hopefully the tournament will fill. But I stand by the method. If you beat fewer people on your way to the next round, you had an easier time getting there. If you had an easier time, starting with slightly fewer chips in the next round is a very fair way of balancing that out. -
Ok so we know that they start each table with even stacks. So my next question is do you start each level with 3k chips again? or do you start rd two with 13500 chips and final table with 121,500 chips? not that it matters cuz blinds would be adjusted accordingly but just wondering.

I agree doug, that is a good way of evening out the field, SInce I'm stuck at work right now can someone tell me how many people are signed up? If its almost capped I wanna have someone register for me. Thanks,
-
I guess I see the rationale, I've just never seen it in practice, as every 3x shootout I've seen has hit the cap. I'm sure this one will too, so it'll be a non-issue.
