Hello Everyone.....I thought I would share a reply that I received from Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC).
I have sent her letters just about everytime that The Engineer has requested us to get on the ball (several years now). In the past she has been very negative towards our cause, but her admission of family members playing "penny poker" is a positive new twist, IMO.
I am dissappointed that she is not yet familiar with the bills and also that she is attempting to turn this into a Democrat/Republican issue (I'm Libertarian by the way), but this is a great deal better than the previous responses I have received from her. I still don't think she would vote in favor of either of the bills, but maybe she's coming around....

Dear Mr. Sharpe:
Thank you for emailing me regarding H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act and H.R. 2266, the Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act. I appreciate your taking the time to share your concerns with me.
You are correct that "poker is a proud America tradition" and several members of my family enjoy playing penny poker on occasion. Thusfar this Congress, over 3,100 bills have been introduced in the House and I have not had a chance to become familiar with H.R. 2267 or H.R. 2266.
However, it is important to let you know that whether H.R. 2267 or H.R. 2266. comes to the House for a vote is completely in the hands of Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat majority. They control what we are allowed to vote on and the number of cosponsors has no impact. We have some bills with 300 cosponsors which the Speaker refuses to bring up for a vote. Though I do not sit on the House Financial Services Committee, rest assured that your support for H.R. 2267 and H.R. 2266 has been duly noted by me.
Please continue to contact me on any issues of concern. Thank you for visiting my award winning website, www.foxx.house.gov. We update our site daily and it is a great resource to learn about constituent services, legislative updates and my work in Congress. I hope you will continue to utilize the website and let me know what you think about it.
Sincerely,
