  1. Gaming officials say they're ready to bet on the Web

  2. What's the over-under here? Twelve months seems overly optimistic, so I suggest it should be set at 18 months. I have very little (to no) reasoning here. Just a gut feel.

Of course, this is when poker becomes legal enough for companies like MGM to open a site. I'm guessing the regs will have dissolved well before that.
  3. It's hard to say, but I do know this is awesome for us. It means these companies may lobby a bit for us. It also takes away a big talking point of our opposition about legislation benefiting only offshore, unaccountable companies.

  4. How great would it be to play online and earn comps at the casinos rather than 'points' to get a hat or jersey?
  5. didn't even think of that - great point Reech...that would be gr8
  6. Yes, it will be SWEET!! The best thing is that the current sites are completely on board....they welcome the competition in exchange for the clarification on the legal question. In fact, you'll note the pokerstars has kindly sponsored this forum. So, the situation after we win the legal fight will be pretty optimal for everyone.

  7. I'm drooling at the thought of how much my winrates will increase...
  8. Yers, exciting news, but read carefully, there is better news there fore us.
Recall ther hearing before congress and the concerns of age / location verification.

Quoting from the article; "The company set up an Internet gaming site in 2001 in the Isle of Man but quickly folded the operation. The site lost money because the company elected to undergo a more stringent registration process than its competitors.

However, the endeavor helped the company work out problems that will be useful when relaunching, such as how to determine a bettor's age and location and how to protect problem gamblers.", it seems they have these problems solved.

I might suggest in our writing to Congress we reference this story and this fact, an American Company seems to have those bases covered.

  9. OBG,

Yes, sweet news all around! This was a great announcement for us for many reasons. They say they can do it in a way that will comply with the requirements of legislation like IGREA and Wexler's bill. They're also signalling that they're no longer opposing legalization.

  10. i feel a mini poker boom coming (assuming the casinos come up with a good site). mini because it def. wont come close to the moneymaker boom.
  11. It's hard to say. I think it has potential to be bigger, as there will be proof of RNG audits, as well as far easier money transfers (and real commercials).

I hope we'll get to see, that's for sure. :-)
