  1. Has anybody been following Barney Frank's HR 2046 bill to legalize/regulate Internet gaming? I know that the bill was introduced back in 4/07, and it seems to be sitting in a subcommittee.

Is there any action on this? Is PPA, or any other poker interest groups lobbying on this?
  2. Barney Frank's HR 2046, or the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, was introduced on April 26th of last year.

The bill was discussed in committee last June. It was just announced that Barney Frank will be holding a hearing on internet gambling law next month. The date should be announced next week and we'll have it to you as soon as it's revealed.

The PPA has been working fevereshly to meet with Congressmen on the issue and the bill already has 47 Co-Sponsors.

You can track the progress of the bill and read it here:

  3. Next month's hearing will be big for us. It concerns the regulatory burden on banks having to enforce UIGEA. Many Republican pro-UIGEA congressmen are pro-business, so this should be interesting.
