Just wow .. think of all the people that have fought and died for our freedoms just to see that we really aren't free to do a fucking thing ..

keep up the good fight. The whole situation seems too ridiculous to be true.

Action must be taken , we don't need the key , we'll break in! -
fwiw, I would NEVER allow any organization, govt or non to intimidate me into giving up what I feel is my natural and inalienable rights as a US citizen. My ancestors have died to give me the right to say no to this type of unjust action. I would count myself as less of an American should I allow that to happen. our govt is for the people by the people, yet we continue to face legislation and actions of a few extremist government figures despite that fact that
1. we have never lost a court case (to my knowledge)
2. we have repeatedly shown that this is an important issue to a large number of TAX PAYING CITIZENS (Pres. Obama's issue survey)
3. The public opinion is with us, an overwhelming 91% of voters in the latest USNEWS article poll made that clear.
What else do we need to do? how much more clearly can it be said?
"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded. Abraham Lincoln" -
Go to the PPA website and send letters-They will be hit with 100,000 + e-mails-probably won't help but will show our frustration.

Letters sent. Link to join ppa isn't working for me.
Thanks for everything Engineer! -
Try http://www.joinppa.org . There will be a security certificate issue because PPA changed its URL two hours ago to www.theppa.org (the cert. looks for www.pokerplayersalliance.org). PPA is updating the certificate later this evening, but for now just allow an exception and you'll get right in. Thanks.

Hi All,
Understandably, many of you have concerns regarding certain bank accounts with poker players' money being frozen in the US, and I'd just like to reassure everyone that your funds remain safe and secure at FTP, and the processing of withdrawal requests is proceeding as normal and is still available to all of our players. I've been gathering information on our side to address some of the rumors and conjecture that have been flying around, and here's what I know:- We have multiple check processors. Only one processor was affected by the current situation, and we don't expect any further interruption in check withdrawals or any other withdrawal methods.
- All players who were affected by this issue have had their money returned to their Full Tilt Poker account and all withdrawals are processing normally.
- We always make sure we can cash out any of our players at any time. You should never have to worry that you won't get your money, and we're doing everything we can to ensure you always have plenty of methods available for both deposits and withdrawals.
- eCheck deposits are temporarily unavailable, but we expect it to return as a deposit option sometime this week or next.
- I'm not sure where this particular rumor started, but there are absolutely no plans to leave any market.

I must say, I would feel completely helpless if it wasn't for the PPA. But I am scared right now. I'm moving into a new APT in the next month and A) I'm going to need to make a large cashout, and B) this is my only source of income and I am truly dependent on poker
What are other midstake grinders who live off poker doing now? I feel strange even playing right now -
Sup nug. I'm just keeping my money on both stars and full tilt until I hear more. Luckily I have enough set aside for now that I don't need to cashout.

Sent letters to my congressmen from Iowa (Latham) and Minnesota (Walz) as well as Obama. Also going to send to each from my four roommate's emails.
Tomorrow I plan to call my congressmen.
I will make a post on another forum asking them to express their support for online poker as well. Aside from that, I will mention the situation at every table I play tonight, hoping to recruit some more voices to congress. I suggest everyone who plays online poker and would like to continue doing so do the same
Get involved everyone -
am I going to be able to cash this thing at my bank. Can I even deposit it? I know there have been a ton of threads about this, but I was just wondering because some people have said they were able to deposit and some not able to. Thanks for your input.

i tried to cash a paper check from them last week n it bounced. they issued the money back into my account said they had a problem with their "processor" and told me to cashout again. I did and im currently waiting for my check to come again. keep us updated

Due to this series of unfortunate events, I find it is time for me to write my congressman. I haven't ever gotten involved in the past which I regret. So I want to write a letter/email.
What do I say? Honestly, I don't know what to say? Can someone help me form a letter? I know I should state what I believe as our rights blah blah blah but what about supporting evidence and stuff to reference? Like are there court cases I should reference...statistics of support from general public...or a plan how to regulate? What are some numbers of money that could be taxed?
Thanks -

Dear President Obama,
I am a voter and poker player who's writing to ask for your support. Specifically, I ask that you publicly support my right to play games of skill like poker on the Internet.
This issue is not lost on the American public. We recently made our desire for this liberty known through your Citizen's Briefing Book website. Of the thousands of proposals submitted, a proposal supporting Internet poker rights was consistently in the top 15 during the voting, ending up at #11 - and #2 for number of user comments.
This issue is not lost on Capitol Hill, either. In the 110th Congress, several pieces of legislation were proposed that would implement regulation and licensing of Internet poker. Sensible regulation allows Congress to mandate rigorous safeguards against underage participation and protections for those with excessive gaming habits while providing consumer protections for the millions of Americans who play online poker every day. Regulation also allows American gaming companies to participate in the world's Internet gaming market, bringing needed jobs and revenue to America. Internet censorship and an unenforceable, unpopular prohibition provide none of these benefits. All censorship and prohibition can do is drive players underground or overseas while limiting my personal freedom.
What's most important to me is your support for my rights. Please respond to this letter and let me know you will support my freedoms. I will be watching your actions on this issue closely. I hope that I, along with my over one million fellow Poker Players Alliance members, can count on your support.
Thank you for your consideration.
heres one for your congressman, this is all on front page of poker legislation also
Co-sponsor and Support H.R. 2267, The Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act
I am a constituent, voter, and poker player asking for your support. Specifically, I ask that you co-sponsor and support H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act. I also ask that you support legislation that clearly exempts games of skill like poker from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA).
H.R. 2267 provides for sensible regulation of Internet gaming and puts the U.S. in charge of safeguarding its citizens. H.R. 2267 mandates rigorous safeguards against underage participation and protections for those with excessive gaming habits while providing consumer protections for the millions of Americans who play online poker every day. This bill will also allow American gaming companies to participate in the world's Internet gaming market, bringing needed jobs to America. Internet censorship and an unenforceable, unpopular prohibition provide none of these benefits. All censorship and prohibition can do is drive players underground or overseas while limiting my personal freedom.
Separately, something must be done to clarify the UIGEA. Our nation's financial institutions have repeatedly warned that UIGEA is overly broad, and that the lack of definition in the law could result in the disruption of lawful financial transactions. Indeed, with regulators, legislators and financial institutions all warning that UIGEA is unenforceable, and with the need for banks to focus on our economic recovery. Banks must fully comply with this burdensome law by December 1, 2009. Please act immediately to reform the UIGEA and exempt peer-to-peer games of skill like poker from its enforcement.
Poker is a proud American tradition and our nation's citizens have enjoyed poker for more than 150 years. It is an honorable game that I am proud to play. The simple fact that I choose to play it on the Internet does not make it unlawful.
What's most important to me is your support for my rights. Please respond to this letter and let me know you will support my freedoms. I will be watching your actions on this issue closely. I hope that I, along with my over one million fellow Poker Players Alliance members, can count on your support.
Thank you for your consideration. -
Theres a pre-written letter on the PPA website. All you have to do is plug in your name, your representative, and address.

It's actually VERY easy. Just go to http://capwiz.com/pokerplayersalliance/home and send the two PPA letters. Takes just 60 seconds!

Also, it's no form letter. It is fully editable, and it arrives in your congressman's inbox like any other email to Congress. Another benefit is that PPA frequently prints these out and hand delivers them to Congress when lobbying. -
