I recently received a letter from Paul Kanjorski after one of the many letters I've sent from PPA alerts. He has voted with us both times on the Frank bills that have been before committee. While most of the letter is the same basic summary of events that most responses seem to list regarding online gambling and poker, I thought I'd share the last full paragraph.
"Following its introduction, the House leadership referred H.R. 5767 to the Financial Services Committee for review. Should I have the opportunity to consider such a measure during the 110th Congress, you can rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind and take action as appropriate. Such proposals, from my perspective, have merit in that games of skill differ from games of chance."
While I personally believe that any and all online gambling should be legal as a matter of personal freedoms, it does appear that the skill game argument is the one that can win us votes for online poker.
I would also like to note that if you want someone who has supported us in each of the Financial Services Committee votes over the past couple of months to remain in office, remember to vote for Kanjorski in November. He is in a close race and I don't feel like we can take the risk of losing anyone who supports our rights at this point.
