He may have a valid point(s), but the only way to prevent this would be through regulation?
Letter:
May 16, 2008
Mr. Sean Glassco
565 S Guenther Ave
New Braunfels, TX 78130-5642
Dear Mr. Glassco,
<SPAN> Thank you for your interest in Internet gambling legislation. I appreciate hearing from you.
I am opposed to Internet gambling. Internet gambling sites are often fronts for money laundering, drug trafficking and criminal organizations. While some people are able to responsibly gamble online, these sites evade gambling regulations that restrict gambling by minors, protect chronic gamblers, and ensure the integrity of the games. Young people and compulsive gamblers are particularly vulnerable. Children may play without age verification and online players can gamble 24 hours a day from home.
As Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, I supported H.R. 4411, the “Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act” just over a year ago. This piece of legislation has reduced gambling by young people- 5.8 percent in 2006 to 1.5 percent in 2007. H.R. 2610 and H.R. 2046 seek to undo the restrictions put in place by H.R. 4411.
