Got this from PPA, and since I just recently returned to Texas, this would be awesome if HB-222 passed. Click the link and to contact your representatives.

email i just got from PPA

Earlier today I informed you that the Texas House of Representatives was scheduled to vote on HB 222 - a bill which would license and regulate poker in the state of Texas. I have since learned that this historic moment is being blocked by the Governor Rick Perry.

Please call the Governor's office today at (800) 252-9600 and tell him:
    • Allow a vote on HB 222
    • Texans should be allowed to play Texas Hold'em.
    • Don't block action on this bill
    Please take immediate action!

if you would rather email, http://www.governor.state.tx.us/contact/

The Twitter blasts worked well to get action in Minn. Let's do it here:

Gov. Perry is blocking the vote on HB222. Let's all amp up the pressure!

    Contact info:

    Phone: (800) 252-9600
    Twitter: @GovernorPerry

I believe we should hit this with calls and Twitters. This was effective at getting us heard in Minn., so let's try it here. I wrote up some Twitters to Tweet. It takes just seconds to send these out, so let's all pitch in!

Click here to send Tweet #1: RT @PPApoker: PLZ tell TX @GovernorPerry at (800) 252-9600 to stop blocking a vote on HB 222, a bill that allows poker in Texas. PLS RT!"

Click here to send Tweet #2: "RT @PPApoker: PLZ tell TX @GovernorPerry at (800) 252-9600 that poker is a game of skill that should be legal in Texas. PLS RT."

Also, if Perry follows you on Twitter, you can send him a direct message:

So, according to Menendez this bill is dead for now.. the possibility of Perry's veto has pretty much killed it.

    Read this...

Anyone else hear anything since this came out?

The fight for this particular bill may be over, but to PPA this fight is just getting started! I hope every poker player and freedom lover in Texas will start writing and calling now in preparation for next year.

Here's a new article on the issue: www.dallasnews.com/sha....0b0.html

Unfortunately. And, you can bet he'll do all he can to run as far to the right of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson in the GOP primary as possible -- including tossing us under the bus.

It was disappointing that we didn't win, for sure.

At least we gained from it. First of all, we're no worse off than we were before the bill was introduced, as it was solely offense for us.

Next, we had a nice opportunity to tell Texas politicians how we felt about the issue. We'll build on that.

Finally, we need to know our enemy. This helped in that regard as well.

I was pleased to see Texas poker players spring into action and stand up for their rights.

Have a few friends in Texas, who don't play poker, but said they would contact their rep for me and the rest of the poker community.

    Thanks for posting this :)

edit: damn, sucks that it's already over with, and we lost. Oh well ... they're going to contact their reps anyway and tell them to SUPPORT from here on out.

I'm glad they're writing. Thanks for bringing the issue to their attention. This type of effort will help build the momentum we'll need to win in Texas.
