  2. Thanks Rich - I will be emailing the FSC today from Lithuania. Despite my living abroad it saddens me to see my rights as an American are not the same in my home country as they are living in Europe.

  5. Fight for Poker Rights: Tuesday, May 31st:

Let's start contacting mainstream media companies to tell them to increase their coverage of our important issue. Let's start with Fox News and go from there. Contact info:
    Recurring actions we can take:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.):
    • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
    • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
    • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
    • We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
    Thanks!

  6. Good work TE,

Not sure if you are aware of this but a bill was just passed to the IL State Senate to expand BM casino gambling in metro Chicago in a huge way.

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...,6642614.story

It's expect to pass and be given to Gov Pat Quinn to sign within days. The media is covering it like crazy here. Might be a good time to begin to contact local Chicago media outlets to make them aware of efforts to legalize online poker as well. Since they're covering this story, there might be interest in covering the online poker initiative as well.

tBH, I don't think this bodes well for IL opting in to fed legislation legalizing online poker since bm casinos will even have more power and leverage than ever in IL. My instincts tell me that they will see online poker as a threat to their existing business. I think we need to get going now in IL to grease the skids in the event that federal legislation and regulation ultimately does come to pass.

I know this is a bit off topic so feel free to PM me if there is any way I can help in my home state.

  7. Fight for Poker Rights: Weekend of June 4th:

The newly updated state level PPA pre-written letter is up. As any federal bill with contain some mechanism to permit states not to participate if they don't wish, it's up to all of us to demand that they do!

So, let's all send this letter, plus send the other two if you've not yet done so. Again, these will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get these new letters out.

Also, please encourage friends, relatives, coworkers, your significant other, fellow posters, coworkers, and anyone else you can find to join us in sending these letters to their lawmakers!

    Recurring actions we can take:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.):
    • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.

  8. We are getting great traction on Facebook. One excellent benefit is how it shows the ratio of support to opposition for our position for all to see. It's right there in front of the lawmakers' own eyes. Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

So, let's post pro-poker comments and "like" the pro-poker comments posted by others. Let's divide these up into manageable groups for each day, starting with these nine senators for today:
    Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own other Facebook pages, too:
    • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
    • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
    • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
    • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing
    • We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Click Buttons to Send Letters in less than 60 seconds:

Send an Email to Attorney General Holder

Send an Email to President Obama and Congress

Send an Email to Your State Lawmakers

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan.

this is huge for illinois. rahm got it passed and now the idiot quinn is sitting on it. off topic again, but if this doesnt get done, horseracing industry in illinois will die. quinn seems to be trying to show he has some power in this state by sitting on a bill that will give 1.5 billion immediately to the state if passed. so sick and he needs to sign it now

If they do, please take a moment to sign into your Facebook account, click the “Like” button on their page and then post your message asking them to protect your rights to play online poker by supporting HR 2366. The FTP issue is not PPA's fault at all. Why would you think that? PPA doesn't run FTP.

I don't have a buddy over there. I also have no idea why you think I can get our money back, given that I cannot get my own five figures out. Hell, I was doing this as an unpaid volunteer up until Black Friday, so I don't know whose pockets you think are getting filled.

PPA is doing its part to prevent future stuff like the FTP/UB/AB nonpayment with legislation that addresses the issue directly.

  16. As you may know, U.S. House and Senate leaders have appointed twelve members of Congress to serve on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. This “super committee" is charged with developing policies to reduce the U.S. deficit and then make specific recommendations to Congress which will be voted on. This is a great opportunity for us to make our voices heard.

Let's go to their Facebook pages and let them know that we want them to take action on the online poker issue! Simply take a moment to sign into your Facebook account, click the “Like” button on the page and then post your message asking them to protect our right to play online poker by supporting HR 2366!

The names with an 'x' in front of them are those who do not allow direct posting on their Facebook wall. No problem for us. Just post a comment in response to a post already on the page. PLEASE BE SENSITIVE about this though. If the post says the Congressperson is being treated for cancer, don’t bother them with poker. Tell them to get well soon. Be sensitive to what’s going on in their state, too – wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, etc. And PLEASE say please and thank you. Courtesy goes a long way.

Oh, and let’s all try to get the bill number correct. It’s H.R. 2366.

Let's all also remember to revisit these walls to like the posts and comments made since your last visit. Thanks!
