October in review

By Goldenad - Nov 01 2009, 03:03 PM

im taking today off despite it being sunday so i can hang out with my GF. october was a rough month for me, with lots of swings. aka:

so i won about $150 for the month which is essentially breakeven. i guess thats going to happen, especially because september was my best month ever at about +3200. either way its disappointing because i put in my most volume ever i believe, with 300 mtts

you can see the swings were pretty crazy this month. i made 7 final tables including but couldnt ship any. this is really frustrating as i think ive now had 16 final tables without a ship (this excludes a $12/180man sng that i took down in october) :

2nd in $16.5 - 360 runners

2nd in a $22 - 274 runners

3rd in a $27.5 - 347 runners  ---- Biggest cash of the month: $980.28

5th in an $11 - 345 runners

7th in a $27.50 - 303 runners

5th in an $11 rebuy (FTP) - 153 runners

7th in a $33 turbo - 180 runners

furthermore, i made it deep in a bunch of mtts including final table bubbling the 3r on ftp, then in other random ones getting: 16/1672, 23/2395, 20/1284, 135/5598, 95/3293, 66/2256...it goes on and on and on. there were a few more where i made it into the final 50 of a 1500+ man mtt.

despite all of this, october has left me with more motivation than ever to play and play well.

1. volume volume volume. a few times i made it pretty deep and straight up got bad beated, this happens

2. i still have a lot to learn, thankfully p5s and 2+2 always provide good feedback on hands. im slowly changing how i play late in tournies and actually scaling down the aggression in certain instances, mostly vs the loose stationy players where i level myself into thinking they cant have certain hands. i think thats made a tremendous difference in my game.

3. the $55 mtts are definitely beatable. granted as you get deeper into the game there are going to be more solid players sticking around, but there is a plethora of terrrrible fish who really dont have a clue whats going on.

4. im close to shipping something big (3-8k). it will happen soon. i hope november will show me my biggest cash ever

gl all.
