Weekend Roundup

Well, it was a successful weekend. I took 4th in the Cereus 163$ OHL Deepstack. Disappointing as at one point I had 200k 1st and 2nd was 160k, 3rd 100k, 4th 80k. Then this happened.

UTG minraises and I call from BB with AJ104hh. Flop is AQ9 rainbow and I check to him. He makes 2/3 pot bet. Now I could be ahead here if he is raising Ax baby but I think he would have checked behind based on his style so I'm drawing to the K or 8. If he has AK AQ I think I can get paid off. Turn makes the board AQ96hh now giving me NFD along with up/down st8 and top pair. He has about a PSB left so I decide to push it since I'm going to call it anyway. He calls with QQxx and holds. I probably could have folded flop but it was a tough turn to get away from and I don't know if I made the right play. I was 35% to scoop on turn and PSB are always giving you 2 to 1. So in that sense I guess the turn play was fine but maybe a fold to his strong bet on the flop. Anyway, then I made two bad plays after that (my only major mistakes of tourn) and bust in 4th.

I took first in the PS NOHL Rebuy without even rebuying which is almost impossible to do but I doubled up once, twice, thrice and never looked back. I took first in the FTP OHL Rebuy so those two got me 1300 on a 15 dollar investment. My holdem tourn didn't go so well. FT bubbled the Cereus 33$ NL Rebuy so that was disappointing. But, anytime I'm making money I'll take it. Gl all, I'm not doing this blog as much because I'm doing a more frequent one on my dog and his cancer.

Been no blog because.....

Last Tuesday I was all set to a blog and then I got a call from my vet. I had taken my dog Rocco in because I felt lumps under his jaw and they did some tests on him to see what it was. The vet called me and said that it was lymphoma and Rocco has 3-4 weeks to live if you don't treat it. Needless to say I was in shock. Rocco is a strong, healthy, 4 year old pit bull. My girlfriend and I were very upset. I didn't play poker for a couple of days then did a half day. I finally did two full days of poker yesterday and sunday. I'll say this; I didn't give to shits about all the outdraws/beats/etc because they just seemed insignificant. My dog is dying I couldn't give a fuck about AK getting cracked by A3 AIPF. Just put perspective on things I guess. Anyway, I tell myself I'm playing for him because we are doing Chemotherapy for him and it will run 3-3.5k. I'm gonna win a tournament for my boy and take care of his treatment. Today was his first day of Chemo. He is home now and the vet says he'll be drowsy for the rest of the day. I wish everyone the best and hope to do some regular blogs just to get into some type of normalcy/routine and not think about this.

Poker Weekend

Saturday/Sunday I had some nice scores.

1st Cereus 15NL Re - I run good in this tourn, the play is weak from what I've seen so far. I should probably keep playing it as it gets 130-150 runners, I love those size tournaments, usually pay only top 18. I've cashed 7 of 12 times with 5 FT's and 2 FT bubbles but I'm running like death on the Cereus PLO 11Re 0 for last 12 times.

4th Stars 33NL Re - Came to FT 2nd in chips but couldn't get it going. I had 9bbs 4 handed and SB shoved I called with Ax and was outkicked.

4th Stars 109 OHL - A solid second in chips 5 handed and then boom!! Out goes my freakin internet. So sick. I finally get it back and we are 4 handed and I have 7.5bbs. SB raises me PSB and I decide to play my QQ38 and shove it in. He tables AAxx and scoops. I'm really pissed about this because I feel like interent could have cost me the 1k difference from 4th to 2nd and of course the chance to play HU for another 1k. Thanks Comcast!

2nd FT PLO 26 KO - Finally One time!! I run like death in this tourn but finally hand hands hold for me. Unfortuantely was a 4 to 1 dog starting HU and lost a race AIPF.

Heartbreakers for the weekend:

Above mentioned Cereus 15 NL Re, next day I have huge chip lead and face a limper and hold JJ. I raise 2400bb to 9600, gets flatted by button and SB shoves 50kish, limper folds and I shove iso and SB tables AK, I lose race and he has lead with 120k and I'm in 6th now with 54k. FT first hand I get JJ raise it and BB calls and turns trips with 88. I lose half stack. Next hand UTG shoves and I hold QQ, I shove and BB calls with 1010. Flop 10xx its over.

PS PLO 55 Re - 155$ invested and I was blinding away with internet down (same time as OHL FT). Get back in to see button makes PSB and I hold AA58ss in SB, I raise PSB, he reraise and off we go vs KQQ3 xxxxQ. Oh puke

FT PLO 216. I really want to take this down. Its the flagship PLO tourn weekly on FTP and gets top internet pros in as well as FTP red pros. Early on I double with AA84hh, I raise 90 at 15/30 (5K stacks around) and get flatted 3 times and then someone makes PSB to 500. Wow, okay, I figure maybe he has AA as well or just position raising? I feel my edge is big vs these random guys and shouldn't gamble on a hand where I am maybe 55% to win but I love me some gamble and I reraise PSB which makes it 2k plus. Folds to reraiser and he flats. Flop is K,8,2 rainbow. Well, pretty dry. I hold the 8. I think if he has KK gg and I make PSB, he tanks and shoves the rest with 6234 for bottom pair what?. He has 11 outs and a 5 would be nice redraw for him but turn is A. Now I have 10.5k and I'm chipleader early! Then....disaster. Lee Wakinson raises in EMP and I flat on cutoff with J10109hh and flop is 10,5,2ss for the flopped nizzles. BB checks and Lee makes C-bet. I raise it up and BB folds Lee calls. Turn is Ax. He checks, Not a bad card unless he holds AA, and I'll find out soon enough. I bet 2kish and he just calls. River is Q for 1075AQ board. Lee checks. Hmm. I hold a J for the blocker to st8, the question is what did he call raise with on flop. Seems like a st8 or flush draw. Maybe KK,QQ,AA but KK,QQ would give up on turn and AA would usually raise turn. I feel like value betting but don't feel he is calling because he has a busted draw most likely or a strangely played AA. I check and he shows AKJxss for rivered gutshot. 4k pot there dang. Then BvsB the SB makes min raise at 20/40 and I call the 40 with A347. Flop is 2,5,6hh and he makes PSB. I flop da nutz with a better str8 redraw and naked A of h so I'm not too worried about a flush hitting because I can rep it if the h comes off. It certainly looks like I'm calling to a draw here. So I call the PSB. Turn is Jx and I still have nuts and he makes another PSB. About 1k plus in pot now. Time to raise? I usually would but again I feel like this guy is just bluffing and I want another bluff out of him. Again I'm not too worried about heart and if board pairs I'll take it from there. I'd rather get another 1.8k bluff on the river than raise him off a pair or whatever. River is high heart and he makes another PSB for 1.8k. Dang...I hold the Ah so he can't have nuts AND it looks like I was calling to a flush draw all along so WTF? I feel that he is either bluffing as I wanted or he has made a flush. I feel there is no point in raising to bluff because I don't think this guy can fold a flush if that's how he played it. So I call and he tables QJ6hh for Q hi flush. Just unlucky. If I raise turn I lose more because he is not folding top two and 3rd NFD BvsB. Not the way he was instapotting it and this made me not want to raise bluff river because I didn't think he could make a fold. I could have folded river but I feel a bluff was a good part of his range. Well, I chip up to about 6.8k at 20/40 and raise with QQ108double suit. Flop is QJx for da flopped nutz. I c-bet it and a top internet pro makes it PSB reraise. One guy folds and back to me. I hope he doesn't have wrap st8/flush draw but I'll play with him. I reraise PSB and he shoves it and I see AKJJ for middle trips and a gutter to broadway. Nice!! Drawing to 4 outs for a 13.5k pot at 20/40! turn is diamond giving him flush draw. I hold two dds as well but running diamonds it is for the better flush for him! BinK! Three times I flop da nutz and three times I'm rivered for 4k, 4k, and 13.5k pots. I need to get staked for this damn tourn, 216 is out of my range and I can't build my bankroll because I'm the only one paying rent/bills now as my girlfriend is finishing school. I keep cashing out. I guess I shouldn't play it? Seems silly though I feel I have a strong edge on these guys playing. We'll see if I play it this Saturday.

Long Time No Blog

I haven't blogged since the FTOPS HU because...I was a little burned out from poker and then a day later my Grandma died. I flew up to NY to attend the wake/funeral and visit my family. It was a deflating experience as I was fairly close to my Grandma and I didn't like seeing my Mom upset from losing her own mother. I spoke at the Funeral and tried to do my best to honor my Grandmothers life. After that, poker just seemed like petty shit so I didn't play MTTs for a week I guess. Then I started Thursday maybe? Friday off and then Saturday had a bad day save one tournament. Cereus 15k OHL deepstack which I won for almost 5k. Needed that otherwise would have been a bad month of break even poker on my spreadsheet. I took off from MTTs the next day and sat in for some 1/2,2/4 OHL Ring games and got tilted by some rediculous beats. I guess they happen more often in limit but it's just hard to believe still what people call down with. So for yesterday I said...play like a machine sir...don't let it get to you. So here is what happened in my higher buy in tourns (I'll spare the 5/11 buy in stuff)

First tourn FTP 75$ 6 Max -

@50/100 UTG shoves 1k and I call with QQ, BB shoves his short stack and I call to see A4 and KJ from UTG. I lose. Later at same level I raise button with KQo and SB who is too loose (33%PFR 53%VPIP) reraises my 300 to 850. Read dependent on this guy I put him on a wide range for 3betting me because I have been raising my button often enough. I could easily shove here and for some reason I didn't. Shoving will fold out his ATC but I'm willing to gamble and see a flop and get a c-bet out of him. A dangerous strategy because his cards are most likely live. So I call and flop is 9,9,5 rainbow. Perfect. He bets 2kish to put me all in and I snap it off with K high. He tables J8 drawing to 6 outs. Well he rivers it so I'm gone. Sick part was the guys SN was Stepi90 or something. I recognized it and kept wondering where I knew it from. Then I LOL'ed when I remebered it was a eurodonk who I played with once before in a FTOPS PLO event (2 FTOPS ago) where he sucked out huge on me and then I berated him for like 5 minutes. He then later sucked me it that FTOPS event for the rest of my chips. So he did it again. Oh well. I stayed cool.

PS 22 NL Rebuy (62$ total). Mid stage BvsB my JJ runs into KK

Cake 33 NL Rebuy (63$ total). Mid stage I raise AKo UTG and get one caller to AQxss flop. I make half pot which would leave me less than PSB for turn, so I'm comitted to the hand. He calls and turn is xs I put the rest in and he calls with J10ss. Still cool

Cereus 33 NL Rebuy (63$ total). Late in tourn cutoff raises and I shove my 12-14is bb's with KQo. He calls with QJo and hits J. Still cool

PS 33 NL Rebuy (93$ total). During rebuy I lose 10k pot AIPF when my KK is up vs QQ and 1010. Mid/Late tourn I raise AJo on the cutoff and SB makes it 3x my raise to 2700. I shove my 7.5k and he tank calls with A9dd, flop is Q,J,9...X....9!! Still cool

FTP PLO 33 Rebuy (93$ total) Late tourn I raise J1097 double suit and flop is J,10,6hh giving me top two/gut shot and flush draw. The one caller from the BB makes PSB and I shove over top. He tables AKxxhh. I lose, but I'm cool.

FTP PLO 11 Rebuy (21$ total). This stung. Final 15 ITM I'm 2nd with 109k in chips. BvsB flop is 5,7,4 and I hold 36xx for 2nd nutz. It gets all in and BB has nutz with 68xx. Ok, still 60k no prob. Facing a raise I call on button with A1076 double suit and BB calls. Flop is 8,5,5dd for up/down st8 draw and NFD. Checks to me and I half pot it for 10K. BB calls and raiser folds. Turn is 4 giving me nut st8. Now BB makes PSB for 40k. This really can't be a boat. I shove a few K over and he calls with a strangely played K5xx. I'm 78% to win this 120K pot but he rivers a K. It stings because instead of being in the chip leader and a good chance at 1.5k 1st or 1k for 2nd I bust with a 75$ payout. That stung but didn't tilt me.

What finally tilted me was playing Limit OHL Ring again. It just fucking tilts me the shit that happens, maybe I shouldn't play it if I can't get tilted. Two examples:

I raise LP with JJ34 double and BB calls. Flop is A,J,7 rainbow. GIN!. I bet he calls with what ends up being KK109. Ok, peel the flop u have a double gutter and mabye K as well for 10 outs. Turn is A now. I have boat and lo draw. I bet again and he calls facing the larger turn bet. Now this tilts me. AAJ7 and u call with KK109 WTF?. Well yes he is drawing to 2 outs and BOOM!

Ok, I'm in BB 4-5 handed with QQ5x and flop is Q,8,5cc and I bet, two callers and one/two fold. Turn is 5 solidifying the nutz for me. I bet again and two callers. Ok, river is Kc and I bet and first guy raises and next guy caps. WTF? Someone going crazy with nut flush? I call and get raised and the last guy calls putting his last chips in. First guy has 85xx and other guy has KKxx. ROFLMAO. I mean calling that down with naked KK is profitable for you? Oh, and the 85 guy fucking tilt me man. So you don't raise the turn with your boat but u cap it on river? WTF? He should have raised turn to chase a lo out or make lo pay for draw and build the pot. I mean this shit tilts me. So theres a 68$ pot I was two outed from. Stuff like this makes me go crazy and then I spew a little. I gotta get that under control or not play it. Thank god my chat is off now so I can't berate. Anyway, off today/tomorrow, but I'll probably play some OHL Ring tomorrow for a couple hours just trying to stay cool.
