April 2009 - Posts

  • Bad day...went a little bonkers

    By lukaluka05 - Apr 26 2009, 01:33 AM

After my nice Sunday last week I took off Mon/Tues/Wed and then played Thursday. I got a ethernet cable so that I wouldn't keep having my wireless disconnect. So yeah now that I have that fixed Comcast blacks out. Unreal. I take my GF's laptop to this coffeeshop and pay 7.95$ to use the internet. I'm 2 for 2 going to that coffee shop for like 1200$ and 1500$ profit when I go there. It's my lucky coffee shop. Maybe because I can only play like 4 tables on my GF's laptop it lets me focus better. Maybe I should stop 12 tabling. So Friday off and then today:

My nemisis: the FTP PLO 216$ weekly.

Hand: J1097hh, I limp EMP and guy next to me makes PSB. Now, I know this guy has AA. I saw him stack off before with naked AA on a very draw heavy board and I couldn't believe: that his hand held, and that he called. So I figure I will stack on this guy if I hit. Anyway, his PSB is called by another guy and me. Flop is J,8,7ss flopping me the nizzles str8 and top/bottom pair. I bet half pot. AA guy flats and button raises it hard. Well, I figure he has 109 as well or trips and flush draw. I shove and AA guy reshoves and button calls. AA guy has naked AA34 pretty much drawing dead (unreal and this is a 216$ tourn) and other guy has QJ82ss for top two and 8 hi flush draw. Turn brick and river is spade. I don't know. 14k pot, can't fold that flop with top/bottom pair as well.

    PS OHL 215$ weekly.

AmachiKK (good high stakes holdem player...but from what I've seen at OHL he is bad) makes 3x from LP and I flat in CO with AQJ4hh and BB calls as well. Flop is J93r and he makes PSB. Now I stacked off on this guy once BvsB and he overbluffs which is what I see this as. So he bets 2300 and I shove and he calls and flips A356r. He is in bad shape, turn 7. I have hi and lo and river is a facking 4 for him to scoop. Gross. This was a huge pot for 4th in chips with 30 or so left. Anyway that crippled me and I gambled with 10bbs and A578ss and got scooped by A278.

    PS OHL 109$ daily.

I have nice stack and one guy at table has huge stack. I'm in BB with AQ84hh and flop is J,2,6hh I bet out 2/3 pot and big stack calls. Turn is A and I have nut trips with NFD and a weak lo. I check to da fish and he bets. I make PSB reraise for all my chips. He tank calls with something like 4578 and hits the 3 outer to scoop on river. WTF is he calling with on flop I don't know. Why he couldn't fold 2nd nut lo on turn with no pair/flush draw I don't know, I don't know how fishes operate. NH to him I guess.

    AP OHL 162$ weekly.

I hold AAQ4 and we see flop of 289r and I face a bet from BB I make PSB reraise he cals. Turn is A giving me nutz for hi. He checks and I make PSB, he calls and river makes board 289A5r and he insta PSB. Now, I feel he would have shoved or bet our turn with nut lo so I don't think he has 43 but I don't pay enough attention to the fact that 67 has hit. Yes I called and he tabled A67x. It was a bad call by me but unlucky turn/river.

Well, these were all my hi stakes tourns and I was badly outdrawn in huge pots. This put me on a tilt. Combined with the heat today I just started making stupid plays in my other tourns. Not giving a shiznit and tilting off my chips, It was weird but I wanted to bust out of my tournaments but not intentionally but subconsciously. I started talking trash trying to encourage players to play pots with me. I loaded up some SS PLO 6 Max on PS and started talking trash there as well. All in all bad form by me. I don't know what it was today, the bad start/the heat and the fact that I've had a great month and was nonchalant? Whatever it was I lost my cool and I had thought I was over that. Maybe I have to take my chat off again. Well GL all, apologize to anyone I offended. Bruce Springsteen tomorrow night!!

  • Stars PLO Rebuy Score

    By lukaluka05 - Apr 20 2009, 03:15 PM

I came in 3rd in the weekly 55 PLO Rebuy on Stars last night. I played well and ran well up until midway through the final table. I had built up a nice stack and this allowed for me to bully some of my opponents. Examples: An aggresive guy opens in the CO and I flat OTB with AJ98dd. Flop is 345dd giving me a J hi flush draw and A hi, not the greatest but I have the stack and the position on this guy. Aggro guy checks to me. I mean, with a drawy board like that you have to bet out your str8s/trips/top two and since he is aggro he is betting his flush draw as well. He is checking to me because: if he c-bet bluffs and I raise him he is in bad shape stack wise. I have him covered easily and he can't pressure me off a hand. Even though I do have a J hi flush draw I could easily PSB with air and I think with that board he would have to fold all naked overpairs, he doesn't want to put his tourn life on the line with just a pair. Another spot came up with me limping in SB and another aggro raising PSB from BB. I call with AQ103hh, this is a raising hand HU for sure but since he is aggro and has position on me, and my cards are partially disguised if flop comes with As and broadways I just call. Flop is KJ6r. I flop a wrap st8 draw, nice. He makes PSB. I shove PSB over the top and he folds. This may look standard but we were the two chipleaders in the tourn. This was a huge pot of 400k plus if he called my raise, the avg stacks were 80kish and we were 12 left or so. I know I have a good drawing hand but I'd rather just take the pot down. With my raise he HAS to have trips or top two to call. I can fold out top/bottom or bottom two or something like AAKQ or even Q10Jx with that bet. He just has no need to risk his huge stack there without a huge hand. He may even fold bottom set although lots of people seem incapable of that on a Sunday. So I'd rather pressure him and take down a nice size pot already than chase OOP with a good drawing hand.

I enter the FT chipleader, I chip up to 300k and then things start to slip. Ok, PearlJammer makes his standard minraise UTG and an aggro guy flats OTB. I hold AAQc4c in the SB. I could raise PSB but then I'm played a pretty naked AA OOP against two players if they flat. I'm really worried about button flatting because he is aggro and will have opportunity to steal pot with position. After seeing PearlJammer fold to 3 bets later in tourn in position I realize I probably could have folded him off his hand, I don't know about aggro on button. So I call and flop is 557r. Pretty nice for AA. Checks around, turn is 8. Now PJ bets 1/2 pot and button folds I call. River is J. I lead out for 20k and PJ raises 72K. Easy fold, if he has str8 he just calls. I don't think he'd bluff me as unknown player so its nizzles for him. "JJ I ask in chat?". He claims 55. Anyway, I lose a few more hands to him. I raise KKQ10doulbe suit and he flats from BB with AQQ10 and spikes A. I call his minraise from BB with AQ57 double suit and flop is KK6r, check-check. Turn is Qh giving me NFD as well as top two. Check-check. River is 9. I check and he bets 20k. I mean this is another nizzles or nothing situation. I think J10 bets turn with position. So it's KK or KQ or a hand with no showdown value like Axxx. I decide to make hero call and he tables KK. I always fold there, I wish it wasn't PJ and just a regular player I fold but my ego said "don't let this top pro push you around" lol. Something like that. Well, I chip up a little bit and eventually end up 3 way with PJ and antother guy. I'm shorty after losing a pot with 84k at 3.5/7k. Button min raises and PJ makes PSB. I'm pretty sure that PJ is raising to steal. He knows button won't want to get into there with a monster with me being short stack. I hold KQQ9cc and insta shove it. PJ calls and types "oops" and tables AK53, good for OHL for sure!. Flop is 9xx, with the dead money its a 220k pot. To put me back into it.....one...time.....runner runner st8. PJ ran so sick at FT. Not that he didn't play well, he did, but I saw him two out a guy BvsB, he won ALL is AIPF hands as well. (4-5). That's called running hot in PLO. So, until next time. Also I am running well in the FTP 44 OHL tourn. I've FT'd 4 of last 5 times I've played it with two 2nd place finishes. It gets maybe 75-95 runners usually, my favorite size tournaments. If my internet didn't keep crapping out I would probably have finished higher a couple others as well!

  • PLO SCOOP Summary

    By lukaluka05 - Apr 14 2009, 08:35 PM

Well, I had hopes for some nice scores in the SCOOP PLO events. PLO MTT's are my favorite game to play these days. It has become my best game statiscally as my ROI is higher in it that Holdem or OHL. These special events bring players into the game that usually don't play it, mostly Holdem players of course. This makes for an especially soft field and of course some large prize pools for PLO MTTs. I mean when do I ever get to play a PLO MTT that has 66K for 1st? So it was game on.

I played 4 events. PLO 22 Re+Add, PLO 215 Re+Add, PLO 55 FO and PLO 535 FO. The H level SCOOP was just too much for my roll, and actually so were the M levels if I'm following bankroll management but you can read above paragraph to see why I played. The good news is I cashed in all 4. That's all the good news though. I put 1K into the M level events and got 2K+ back. 100% ROI is nice but 2K is a typical nice score for me these days. I was hoping 5 figures. I played well enough. The 535 FO I played great I thought. It started 5K in chips and 10/20 level so no need to get into flips there. I usually flatted raises with AA OOP as to not build pots with hands I'm 60 to 55% favorites with. I felt my edge was too great in these fields. So the event has 850 runners. I'm played well and have top 10 stack with 90 left. I lose pretty big hand when I open with KJ97 double suit and get flatted by button. Flop is KJ6 rainbow. I bet standard half pot and he makes PSB. I have him covered 2 to 1 and stick the rest in. He tables KQ106 giving him 12 outs and he gets there. No problem really. Still top 40 in chips. Then I call a min raise from BB and see flop 3 way with J998 and flop is Q95cc. I check and min raise makes PSB and button flats it. It's such a draw heavy board and orginal better is a huge chip leader that I'm will to flat what is most definitely the best hand to see what happens on turn. If I was shorter stacked I would shove. Anyway, turn makes it Q958ccc. DOH! St8 and flush got there. It checks around and river doesn't pair board, it checks around again and orginal better wins with Q9xx baby flush. Button had AQ78. I'm glad I didn't raise flop because no way big stack is folding top two pair and flush draw there. I just had to fade a club and case Q but it was meant to be there. OK, later I raise OTB with KQ103dd into a short stack in the BB. He flats and flop is 732r and he shoves the rest. It's 18k in the pot and 7k to call so obviously I call and he tables J754. He hit flop good but I'm getting 3 to 1 on chips and I'm only a 2 to 1 dog. Anyway, I miss. Okay, now I'm down to 20k at 1/2k with 49 left. I limp 9875 double suit UTG. With a 10bb stack I'm willing to go with these cards, I think PSB is dumb because I am UTG and have to hope for a iso reshove, what I want is: multiple limpers and hit a flop with a nice draw. If not fold and still have 18k. Or: limpers and a raise somewhere and I will reraise and iso and get dead money in with a hand that is most likely flipping. That's my strategy. I could fold I too but 10bbs and I have a gamble hand. So, maybe 1 or 2 limpers behind me. SB completes and BB makes PSB. Perfect!! Now I have dead money in the pot and I can reraise iso and get to showdown HU. I also limped and showed down AA from UTG earlier at this table so I'm confident all others will fold out and I'm confident that this guy has AA and thats why I want to go against. So It goes as planned and I reraise iso and he tables AAJ7. I'm 45% here, like holding AK vs QQ. Keep in mind this is my ONE FLIP of the tourn and its for my tourn life. I have played solid all tournament and not put myself in these situations. If any of the 3 hands I mentioned above had gone different I wouldn't be in this spot but that is poker and I need to win a FLIP ONE TIME!.

Bust 49th of 850ish for 1200ish. FTOPS coming in May. I will be awaiting my 5 figure PLO score then. GL all.

  • Missed a week of poker

    By lukaluka05 - Apr 10 2009, 08:07 PM

Well, I played last Saturday a full day. Then my girlfriend flew out of town Sunday/Monday so I took those days off to just spend with my dogs. Took my usual Tuesday/Wednesday off and then by Thursday I was sick! Logged into some MTTs but quit about 20 min in. Was going to play today but still feel like crap. I hope I feel well enough tomorrow because I wanted to play the scoop PLO L & M along with some OHL and PLO weeklys that happen on Saturday. We'll see. GL all.
