Well, I had hopes for some nice scores in the SCOOP PLO events. PLO MTT's are my favorite game to play these days. It has become my best game statiscally as my ROI is higher in it that Holdem or OHL. These special events bring players into the game that usually don't play it, mostly Holdem players of course. This makes for an especially soft field and of course some large prize pools for PLO MTTs. I mean when do I ever get to play a PLO MTT that has 66K for 1st? So it was game on.
I played 4 events. PLO 22 Re+Add, PLO 215 Re+Add, PLO 55 FO and PLO 535 FO. The H level SCOOP was just too much for my roll, and actually so were the M levels if I'm following bankroll management but you can read above paragraph to see why I played. The good news is I cashed in all 4. That's all the good news though. I put 1K into the M level events and got 2K+ back. 100% ROI is nice but 2K is a typical nice score for me these days. I was hoping 5 figures. I played well enough. The 535 FO I played great I thought. It started 5K in chips and 10/20 level so no need to get into flips there. I usually flatted raises with AA OOP as to not build pots with hands I'm 60 to 55% favorites with. I felt my edge was too great in these fields. So the event has 850 runners. I'm played well and have top 10 stack with 90 left. I lose pretty big hand when I open with KJ97 double suit and get flatted by button. Flop is KJ6 rainbow. I bet standard half pot and he makes PSB. I have him covered 2 to 1 and stick the rest in. He tables KQ106 giving him 12 outs and he gets there. No problem really. Still top 40 in chips. Then I call a min raise from BB and see flop 3 way with J998 and flop is Q95cc. I check and min raise makes PSB and button flats it. It's such a draw heavy board and orginal better is a huge chip leader that I'm will to flat what is most definitely the best hand to see what happens on turn. If I was shorter stacked I would shove. Anyway, turn makes it Q958ccc. DOH! St8 and flush got there. It checks around and river doesn't pair board, it checks around again and orginal better wins with Q9xx baby flush. Button had AQ78. I'm glad I didn't raise flop because no way big stack is folding top two pair and flush draw there. I just had to fade a club and case Q but it was meant to be there. OK, later I raise OTB with KQ103dd into a short stack in the BB. He flats and flop is 732r and he shoves the rest. It's 18k in the pot and 7k to call so obviously I call and he tables J754. He hit flop good but I'm getting 3 to 1 on chips and I'm only a 2 to 1 dog. Anyway, I miss. Okay, now I'm down to 20k at 1/2k with 49 left. I limp 9875 double suit UTG. With a 10bb stack I'm willing to go with these cards, I think PSB is dumb because I am UTG and have to hope for a iso reshove, what I want is: multiple limpers and hit a flop with a nice draw. If not fold and still have 18k. Or: limpers and a raise somewhere and I will reraise and iso and get dead money in with a hand that is most likely flipping. That's my strategy. I could fold I too but 10bbs and I have a gamble hand. So, maybe 1 or 2 limpers behind me. SB completes and BB makes PSB. Perfect!! Now I have dead money in the pot and I can reraise iso and get to showdown HU. I also limped and showed down AA from UTG earlier at this table so I'm confident all others will fold out and I'm confident that this guy has AA and thats why I want to go against. So It goes as planned and I reraise iso and he tables AAJ7. I'm 45% here, like holding AK vs QQ. Keep in mind this is my ONE FLIP of the tourn and its for my tourn life. I have played solid all tournament and not put myself in these situations. If any of the 3 hands I mentioned above had gone different I wouldn't be in this spot but that is poker and I need to win a FLIP ONE TIME!.
Bust 49th of 850ish for 1200ish. FTOPS coming in May. I will be awaiting my 5 figure PLO score then. GL all.
