  • Boring week

    Dec 19 2008, 09:13 AM

Nothing interesting this week, came in 2nd in a $4.40 180 man for $144, nothing else really except I run really bad when down to 3 tables in the 180s.  That will turn in my favor eventually, I think.  I will probably be grinding these alot during christmas break so I guess I will find out.

I was watching some guy with a -90% ROI get absolutely slapped with the deck in a 180 last night.  It was fun until I pushed 22 into him and his AQ flops 2 pair, eliminating me in 28th.  I checked today though, fun to see that he wasted a 30k+ stack before even making the final table, congrats to him for making $4. (I sound bitter, lol, I just hate seeing people who suck get slapped in the head with cards)

  • I won Micro Mayhem er I mean Tied er I mean came in 2nd

    Dec 11 2008, 12:12 PM

I had a good week, I'll start with Micro Mayhem because the results just came in.  I played to have a little fun, almost like a poker break, and I did pretty well.  I went deep in a few NL tournaments and I won the $1 Stud hi/lo tournament for $60+. After winning I looked at the scores and only chrispy2005 could tie me in the standing if he won the razz event (which I forgot to register for!) Well I went to sleep when he was 4 handed at the final table and figured I would find out in the morning.  He won the tournament and tied me and he had the better tie breaker, so I came in second :( I won some money and a t-shirt but I wanted the title :o

Stud was interesting, I got lucky to get a lot of chips at important stages (rivered two pair twice in big pots) I noticed once you get chips, people really let you steal a lot and the calling stations become apparent.  It was interesting to play deep in something other than hold em (I did win a razz tourny on FTP years ago also but the hi/lo aspect really gets people chasing)

On to the bulk of my week, I won two Sunday Million tickets, one last night in a double shoot out.  The other I won Sunday using FPP points, in a 750fpp double shoot out.  I also played some bigger buy in satellites trying to keep the ball rolling after winning that ticket, I didn't win in them though and that dwindled half my winnings away.  I also went deep in several tournaments, here is a list of tournaments that stick out in my head.

Countless 180 man ITM finishes where I couldn't get things going

A few 90 men on FTP, including going in to the final table of a non-turbo and losing in 9th when my top two pair meets the 1st place guys AA (turn obv an A)

Deep in the 7PM $10, went out 69th?

Bubbled the 3r 4 away from money going for a huge stack AQ<AA, also made money in 3r after having a monster stack after rebuy period and then going card dead.

Bubbled a $8.80 with 180 runners in 19th place, had a large stack, rivered a fullhouse on a guy slow playing a better full house.

Theres other I am forgetting but its been a long week.

I tried shortstacking* on FTP and ran the money I had on there in to the ground.  I did like what I saw though, people will call very light and I was running below expectation (i was writing every all in hand down) even running even would be profitable, expecially adding the blinds that you steal then add in the rakeback and this could be a huge money maker.  There are some bad parts though, vigh variance it seems, I feel bad playing this style I actually turn chat off so I don't know if others are talking shit to me, and lastly I don't know what to do once I double up, I get left with an ackward stack of 40BB so I need to come up with a style of play for that size stack, probably just play normal?

*The way I am shortstaking is buy in to a 6max with 20BB, push good hands or raise half and then push the flop.  Also fold marginal hands if there is a raise before me, I seem to be getting light calls so I think this may work, now to come up with a 40bb strategy.

Well this was a long and boring report, I am just happy to have made money.  Might slow down playing the rest of the week, have some school stuff that I need to finish.

  • I F@#king Suck!

    Dec 05 2008, 12:26 PM

Well I did what I said I would not do.... I withdrew a good bit of my money.  I took $700 off of Stars in a fit of rage, which means I need to drop down in stakes if I want to practice good BR management.  Long story short on my reasoning, I was playing $50NL full ring, lost 1.75 buy ins in about 3 minutes of playing (AA<97 and AQ<JT after he pushes his open ender on the turn) this tilted me for the rest of the session and I ended up losing another half buy in, I was livid even though I didn't need to be and I had the roll to keep on going but I was pissed and took most my winnings off.

My stars BR is $270 now, I will most likely play $2.2 180mans, 45mans on Stars now and 180man $4.40s when I have time.  I got $50 from a friend on Full Tilt, I may try and gamble this up by short stacking cash tables and turn it in to a nice roll quickly... or more likely go bust on FT (I got rakebake on FT so having a workable roll there would be nice)  Speaking of rakeback, I have not been playing much on Cake, they have a really bad tourny schedule IMHO, way to many satellites and not enough freeze outs, I also think their structure moves fast but they have so many bad players that patience does pay off there.  I have bonuses to clear so I should probably start playing on Cake again and take advantage of their soft SnGs.

I wish netteller was alive so I could consolidate my money easily, oh well, hopefully my next blog is more cheerful. -Donnie

  • After Thanksgiving Report

    Dec 02 2008, 12:20 PM

Still not playing my A game.  I haven't won a Sunday Million ticket in a loooooong time, I actually ran out of $T which I thought would never happen I had so much saved up ($700+)

I think I lost some of the gamble in me (like what always happens when I get $1,000+) I am also losing a lot of patience, a couple of heads up situations tilted me greatly (to beat down an opponent only to have them improbably come back time and time again kills me) So I am taking a tiny break from the tournys, I played a couple thousand hands of 50 and 25NL the past few days.  I liked how things went so I may be doing that for a bit, I like the ability to leave at anytime also.  I may also do a few sessions of Double or Nothings, I liked those when they started but haven't played many since, if they are not infested with regulars at the $10 level I am sure I can get a nice little profit.  I am just lazy with those because to play them I need to use my extra monitor so I can run 10+ tables (my laptop screen gets to cluttered by itself)

Hopefully I report back with some good news as I try to regroup.
