Taking care of your health

By mesaplayeraz - Jan 14 2009, 12:54 AM

Half of the reason why I am leaving the game for a while is due to health issues.  I sit around a lot, plus the stress of bad beats and not leading a very active lifestyle (jagerbombers over the weekends don't help either..lool) has lead me to having high BP.

Not going to go into great details about it other than it was 166/106 which is considered extremely high.

I am hoping if anyone reads this blog and they are grinders of any form of poker, please take some time out of your daily grinding schedule to eat properly and at least take a walk or do some form of exercise.

It was a wake up call that I need to make some serious life changes.

Good luck to all at the tables and in life!

You have to keep one thing in mind. There is stress in every job. I used to work in the hotel industry and it is a hell of a lot more stressful than poker could ever be. Remember that you have to play at a limit where money doesn't influence your decision making. Good luck to you.

My mother's bp is 190/ 120. She teaches special education so if you decide to make a career switch don't pick that!

if you follow proper bankroll advice bad beats dont hurt AS much. if your one of those guys who shoves a3 and gets cracked by kj there is no help for ya. things like that just happen in sngs all day every day. add less tables/table select/follow bankroll amnagement is the best advice you will get

gl though. u will be back soon enough. this game is to awesome to leave

This very advice may have saved me my entire bankroll last year! Sleeping weird hours, sitting in the same spot for 70 hours a week, and not seeing the sun for 3 months sure took it's toll on me. Taking a week off really can earn you an extra $5000.
