My first blog...

Jul 20 2008, 09:20 AM

I'm not sure if/why anyone would want to read a poker blog by me. I know I have a few fans over at Bodog, but I really don't see any of them bothering to read this. But, on the slim chance that someone might be interested, I'll blog away.

I'm gonna keep this first entry sort most likely, as my session has allready started and it is Sunday.

First, a tiny bit about myself. I am 26 years old and married (going on 5 years). I am a full time student at Bemidji State University where I had maintained a 4.0 up until last semester (got a B in Logic of all things). I am working towards a double major in Business and Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. I have been playing poker for ~3 years, and started playing professionally on Jan 1st of this year. It hasn't been everything I had hoped it would be. I have netted just under $15K this year, a number I expected to be closer to $25k at this point. But, I would be lying if I said that I haven't enjoyed it. I play about 40 hrs a week. A little less when school is in session, a little more when it is not. In January, for instance, I put in 268 hrs. That was a grueling month, but worth the effort. I ended up winning the Monthly TLB at Bodog that month, not a half bad way to start my poker career.

Well, more tables are popping up, so I better jet. Thanks to anyone who is reading this.

hey Nate, I ve run into u a few times in the past on the Dog. GL with ur schooling and with ur poker career. I was just wondering, HOW THE HELL DO YOU SURVIVE WITH THE BEST HAND ON BODOG ?

Im having trouble dealing with the beats when it seems like 99 always beats my KK( theory I have of software glitche). I feel like Im a fairly decent player, but I cant seem to get through tournaments anymore. Ive been on about a 6 month cold streak and pretty much have depleted my roll.

I dont know, I feel like Bodog DOES know what cards to put out there to get the biggest emotional reaction from you (u mentioned in other blog), and once those cards do come I have a hell of a time getting off tilt because I think they do it on purpose.

Any tips on dealing with the beats and the emotions that follow. I know shutting comp off is one of them but cant seem to do it.

Once again congrats on ur success and GL in life in general
