High-stakes tournaments with a total of $30 million guaranteed just sometimes isn’t enough. PocketFives.com members are about as competitive as you’ll find. Fresh off our Full Tilt Online Poker Series Contest, several PocketFivers are gearing up the World Championship of Online Poker, which starts today. For $6,000 per three-man team or $2,000 per person, online poker players can battle it out in the annual WCOOP Contest, with their performances in the tournament series determining their success or failure. Let’s preview who will be competing in this year’s contest, which will span most of the 33 events that comprise the 2008 WCOOP.
Team registration was $6,000 per team, which consists of three players. Events 5, 19, and 32 do not count towards a team’s final score, which is the total of the top ten scores of each player on the team. Currently registered are:

In the FTOPS contest, the Muffin Eaters, led by Kevin BeL0WaB0Ve Saul, churned their way to victory, edging Team 7. Other Muffin Eaters included mattg1983 and JCarver. Team 7 consisted of GB2005, BigRiskky, and PearlJammer.
Here’s a preview of the singles competition during the WCOOP. The top ten scores of each person will determine their final tallies:
BigRiskky – The winner of two World Series of Poker bracelets in Omaha events, Scott BigRiskky Clements made two final tables during the 2008 WSOP. BigRiskky won the PokerStars Sunday Million in December for nearly $200,000 and was the winner of the World Poker Tour’s North American Poker Championship during Season VI for over $1.3 million.
the_Dean22 – A Triple Crown winner on PocketFives.com, Grayson the_Dean22 Nichols has recorded wins in the Full Tilt Poker $100 cubed (one rebuy plus one add-on) and Event 11 of the UBOC ($100 rebuy, $75,000 Guaranteed). In tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings, Nichols racked up 74 cashes for $68,250 in August.
MrCasino – Craig MrCasino Gray is ranked 28th on PocketFives.com and is a week removed from taking down the $1K Super Tuesday on PokerStars. Gray won the Second Chance on Stars in April for $50,508, one month after winning the $100 rebuy for nearly $60,000.
arbianight – An accomplished online star, Rami arbianight Boukai is a $1K Super Tuesday winner and has also won the Wednesday Hundred Fifty Grand, both on PokerStars. Those two wins earned him over $110,000. He’s also finished second in the PartyPoker Million.
Andy McLeod – Another Triple Crown winner who won the Full Tilt $1K on back to back Mondays for more than $90,000 total. One month ago, he finished fourth in the Sunday Million for $75,879 and also finished third in the Nightly Hundred Grand on PokerStars for just over $14,000. In tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings, he banked over $125,000 last month.
Pokersavage1 – In July, Pokersavage1 took second in the Sunday Million, cashing for $120,513. In the same month, he finished eighth in the $1K Monday on Full Tilt for $10,850. He’s finished second in the $100 rebuy on PokerStars twice since March.
moorman1 – The former number one ranked player on PocketFives.com, Chris moorman1 Moorman currently sits at number two. He is the first (and only) five-time Triple Crown winner who won the $1K Monday on Full Tilt Poker in April for $82,750. He recorded 74 cashes last month in tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings for a total of $210,000.
THEDONATOR – Stuart THEDONATOR Paterson finished sixth in the WPT’s Borgata Poker Classic during Season IV, cashing for $110,871. Online, he took down the $1K Monday on Full Tilt Poker in January as well as the Nightly Hundred Grand on PokerStars for $20,979 in May. He won the $100 rebuy on PokerStars in July for $13,110 just a few days after taking down the $60,000 Guaranteed (rebuy) on Full Tilt Poker for $19,448.
