The PocketFives.com Sortable Rankings for the country of Sweden have become extremely competitive in the month of February, as top-ranked online tournament players earn large amounts of cash and PLB points. Carrying the flag for Sweden (as of Thursday morning) is "eisenhower1" (right), who has seven online final tables so far in the month of February, including an outright victory in the PokerStars Daily Fifty Grand.
Sweden's current #1 garnered attention a year ago for his win in the PartyPoker $40k Guaranteed, and went on to take down the PokerStars $100 rebuy in June 2007. From there, he captured the crown in the Bodog $100k Guaranteed for $25,000, and finally broke through last November, with a 5th Place showing in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Main Event - a cash worth $90,000.
In one of the closest PLB races to date, PocketFiver "ATM4Life" is currently ranked 2nd in the country of Sweden with 4,968 PLB points (only five points behind #1). So far this month, "ATM4Life" has placed 4th in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up and won the $15k Guaranteed. Jonas "Telefonkiosk" Lennartsson is currently ranked #3 in Sweden; having captured a victory in the PokerStars $100 rebuy in September 2007. Jonas placed 2nd in this month's FTOPS Event #13 for $23,300. With so many large prize pools up for grabs each week, he could easily take over the top spot with a major victory in an upcoming tournament.
Quickly approaching the 4,000 PLB mark is "david_a," whose final table earlier this month in the PokerStars Sunday Million placed in at #4 in Sweden. In January, "david_a" won the PokerStars Nightly Hundred Grand for $14k. Right behind him in the #5 spot is PocketFiver "fhaugen," who final-tabled the PokerStars $1k Super Tuesday tournament less than a month ago for a score of $36,000 (after finishing 3rd in that same tournament in late 2007). Playing mostly high-stakes tournaments across the major sites, "fhaugen" has also made the final table in PartyPoker's flagship Sunday $300k Guaranteed.
Long-time PocketFiver "Riverloser" is currently ranked #6 in Sweden, after winning the $11 rebuy $55 Guaranteed on PokerStars for a five-figure score. "Riverloser" is a name many online poker fans will recognize, as he once reigned supreme in online tournaments before moving primarily to cash games. Jocke "RIPCURL" Treijs is now the #7 ranked online tournament player in Sweden, having final tabled the UltimateBet Online Championship Event #9, the PokerStars WCOOP 2nd Chance Event #9, and the PokerStars $100 rebuy.
Sebastian Skuja, who goes by the online name of "skuja," has taken time off from online tournaments lately, but still has enough PLB points from 2007 cashes to place him in the #8 spot. He won the Full Tilt $32k Guaranteed in August of last year, then followed that up with a 2nd Place finish in the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan for $23k. PocketFiver "HouseeLover" came on strong in late 2007, winning the PokerStars Daily Fifty Grand and the $15k Guaranteed, along with placing 2nd in the Sunday 2nd Chance for $26k. He is currently ranked #9 in Sweden.
Rounding out the Top 10 is Tobias "fabregarp" Garp, who has put up impressive results in the last two months. His accomplishments include a 2nd Place finish in the PokerStars Nightly Hundred Grand, along with runner-up in the $55 rebuy. He also has a win in the $22 rebuy tournament.
Sweden's top online tournament players are sure to continue their nail-biting race to the top. Keep up with all the action as these superstars compete for the privilege of being Sweden's #1 online tournament player, right here on PocketFives.com.
