Feature Site Week: PokerStars

By P5s Staff | Published Oct 31 2006, 03:41 AM

PocketFives.com is giving away thousands of dollars in bounties and added prizes this week on a site that nearly everyone here is familiar with: PokerStars.  It's been a while, but Feature Site Week is back, and it's better than ever.  Between the PocketFives.com Open, our Sunday Million blowout, and the Top 3 Freeroll, more than $8k in prizes are there for the taking.

Feature Site Week starts Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET with the return of the Pocketfives Open, which is always a lot of fun. The password for this tourney is p5sopen. The first ever Pocketfives Open was held on PokerStars.  This one, which is the 9th, has returned to the home site of many of our users. We expect a big field in this $20+2 tournament, so if you can beat a tough field that will include many ranked players, the payouts should be pretty nice. There will also be 5 seats to the Sunday Million given away in various bounties and an item of your choice from Pocketfivesgear.com if you knock out any Pocketfives.com Admin (the card protector is pictured).

One of the great traditions of the Pocketfives Open is the adding of many unofficial bounties, so watch out for those and feel free to add your own. Pocketfiver Jurollo has already put a $100 bounty on his own head, so keep your eyes open for The Great Gazoo at your table! The official thread with detailed bounty information as well as the password can be found in the main forum, or by clicking here.

Thursday, the fun continues with a Sunday Million satellite blowout. We are adding 25 seats to a $20+2 satellite. In addition to the 25 added seats, there will be one seat for every 11 entrants (based on the buy ins), which could easily mean that the top 40 or more will win a seat in the Million. You can’t beat that value! The password for this tournament is p5sblowout.

Finally, on Friday, we'll be having our "Top 3 Freeroll," which will pay out the same to each of the top 3 spots.  The password is p5sfreeroll.  The prizes you get if you reach the top 3 are a seat in the Sunday Million and a free best-of-three heads up match for $500 against the ranked player of your choice.

We'd like to tell you briefly why PokerStars is a site you should be playing on if you aren't already.  It has long been an industry leader in many areas that matter most to the online poker player. What truly makes PokerStars a great site is the tournament action they offer. Among other things, the Stars Sunday Million routinely offers a prizepool that well exceeds its guarantee.

The game selection is second to none, with 80,000 plus players logged on at any given time. Finding a game at the stakes you want is never a challenge. The user interface is simple but effective, and the customer service is very good. If you don’t like big fields, the Stars regular MTTs may not be for you, but they have 180 seat sit-n-go tournaments running around the clock at various buy ins, so it is kind of like the best of both worlds.

Turbo sit-n-go's are also prominent on Stars, filling up very quickly at the lower and medium buy ins.  It's not difficult or uncommon for a person to be playing 4 or more of these at a time, all at the same level.  There isn't another site out there that can run SNG's at the rate that Stars does.

They also have quite the tournament schedule, especially on Sundays, where four $100k+ prizepools are featured almost every week.  A $1M Guaranteed, Second Chance tournament, $200 rebuy, and $100 rebuy all have sizeable payouts every Sunday, and there's also a $200 HORSE tournament and $200 Heads Up tournament.  You can't find another Sunday lineup that even begins to compare to these options.

We'd like to ask that if you sign up a new account to take part in these promotions, please do so through our link.  These sign ups are the reason we're able to provide great prizes, and we certainly appreciate the support for our site.
