Every major company has its own niche.
Leggo Poker is a rapidly growing cash game training site where its customers are surrounded by some of the very best professionals in the world. Started last October, the site has since expanded to over 4,500 users and become one of the elite training sites on the Web today.
PocketFives.com is pleased to announce that Leggo Poker is now included in the site’s Free Training promotion. We’re offering six months of free training if you download and play on one of the major online poker sites. PocketFives.com sat down with Craig Boyd, Operations Manager for Leggo Poker, to learn about the site.
If you go straight to Leggo’s website, you can read the following description of what they are all about: “LeggoPoker is an all-encompassing poker education website. We offer all the tools to immediately improve your poker ability, and increase your win-rates. Our personal training consists of a video subscription service and coaching, which can be private (1 on 1) or in groups. Of course, there are many other resources that you can explore, and we invite you to browse through the website and join our strong community of dedicated poker players.”
Boyd gives his take on what the training site is all about: “Although we’re a small site (we just started last fall), we have experienced steady growth lately. We’ve still managed to keep a small community and a close-knit feel. We have a lot of well-known coaches and all are active in forums and keep up to date with their blogs.” Here’s a recent excerpt from aejones’ blog talking about videos released on Leggo Poker: “The nice thing about Leggo is that you don't have to wait around 30 days for a video from [me]; you're getting two a month.”
So what makes Leggo Poker unique? Take Boyd’s word for it: “The skill of our pros makes us unique. Our competitors’ sites have two to three big names each. We have a solid lineup of pros and each is current in today’s games.” Last month, the instructors at Leggo Poker collectively made over one million dollars playing poker. While they tend to focus on cash games, instructors have had considerable success in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, PokerStars Second Chance, and other major online tournaments. Here is the site’s roster of instructors: aejones, Apathy, BobboFitos, Carrotsnake, clayton, craigthedeac, Isura, luckychewy, MYNAMEIZGREG (the site’s owner), SEABEAST, and straate.
The variety of videos you can expect to see on Leggo Poker makes for a unique experience for the end user. According to Boyd, Leggo Poker has developed a product worthy of your consideration: “We’re one of the few sites that use a ‘record and pause’ method when playing back videos. It allows our instructors to go into more depth when explaining their moves and those of their opponents. We also do heads up videos where two of our pros are playing against each other and we record it, which allows you to hear what each is thinking. We’re also about to release content videos, where an entire video is based around one topic. These would include PowerPoint presentations and poker videos.” Some videos even deal with tournament play, including a replay of the last stages of the Sunday Million. Five new videos are posted every week and there are two sample videos online you can view for free. Much of the cash game action is six-handed or heads up.
Leggo Poker offers instruction in one on one and group settings. The group setting allows for an affordable way for lower limit players to start the educational process and immediately improve their poker skills. The group sessions run for one hour and there are 10 in total. Boyd comments on the group learning style: “You get all the good things about coaching, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s a good way for small stakes players to have interaction with a high quality coach.”
If you’re not primarily a cash game player, you may wonder why you should be interested in a site that focuses in cash game tutorials. Boyd explains, “In poker, it’s always really important to have alternatives. I consider myself well-rounded and that’s important for success in poker. It’s also convenient to play cash games if you don’t have a lot of time available.” Moreover, there’s money to be had in cash games, which should be important to any aspiring poker pro: “There’s a lot more money to be had in cash games, but they’re harder. That’s where we come into play.”
Two videos are available for free on the site: A $10/$20 No Limit game featuring site owner MYNAMEIZGREG and a $1/$2 No Limit game narrated by Carrotsnake. Each is about a half hour long and pretty informative. Plus, you get to watch two tables going on at once, which makes for a steady stream of action and analysis.
There are several other features available if you just want to scope out the site. You can read the site’s blogs and use a special hand converter without becoming a paying member. The site has forums, a hot key database, and even its own online radio show. Non-subscribers can also host a blog of their own and, in the coming months, Leggo Poker will begin to host user-submitted videos.
