This week the top ten underwent some significant changes, although Mr. Batista is still #1. For now the top four are safe, but just around the corner their opponents are looking for an opportunity to challenge them. Several top players this week are making a concerted and at times scary effort to get money and take over the highest positions in the rankings.
POKERPRO33 (pictured top) moved up yet again and is now ranked 5th. Since the short time we saw him last, he has cashed for almost $43k. He took 2nd place in a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $23,538 and won the $25k guaranteed for $7,984 amongst other scores. Also moving up is PearlJammer. He improved by two spots and is the new #6. He had a week that included two wins, one of which was in the Wednesday Hundred Fifty Grand on PokerStars for a healthy sum of $54,728. The other win was on FullTilt in the $14.5k guaranteed.
ch0ppy (pictured left) took over the #8 spot. His week was worth just over $12k, but it could have been much bigger. He went out in 16th in the FTOPS Event #8 and also finished 11th in a PokerStars $109 Rebuy. The last player impacting the top ten was atimos, now ranked 9th. He had a very nice week comprised of five final tables. He finished 5th in a Stars $109 Rebuy twice, once for $8,070, and again for $4,810. He also took 4th in the $215 Rebuy for $19,280. Other cashes add an extra $16.5k to his week.
The top 20 is equally as exciting with six players elevating their status. The first is AJKHoosier1, who had a big win last week, lifting him up two positions into 11th. He won a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $21,120. SowersUNCC also gained two positions and is now ranked 12th. He final tabled a Stars $109 Rebuy.
dabears87 aka puffinmypurp (pictured right) had a fantastic week on PokerStars. He made three final tables: one in the $25k guaranteed and the other two in $109 Rebuys. In the first rebuy, he got 4th place for $10,536. Three days later, he outdid himself as well as the entire $109 Rebuy field, taking home 1st place and $31,955. He is now ranked 14th. stevie444 bulldozed his way into the top 20 this week, picking up 5 spots and ending up at 16th. He had three final tables including a 2nd place finish in the FullTilt Sunday Mulligan for $25,665.
Next on the list of movers is a man whose reputation precedes him. JohnnyBax (pictured left) has been running on a steady path upward lately, but last week he brushed the path aside. He was able to buy a ride up nine spots in the rankings with over $85k in cashes. He took 3rd in a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $19,403 and won the $215 Rebuy for $60,250.
The last player to make it into the top 20 was djk123. He had a good week, final tabling four tournaments. His two biggest cashes were a 4th place finish and a 2nd place finish in the PokerStars $109 Rebuy. The two totaled $33,808 and helped to place him in 20th.
In the top 50, seven other players have advanced considerably. The first is allinstevie. He had a variety of cashes last week, five of which were final table scores. He won the Turbo $20k guaranteed on FullTilt for $8,894 and placed 3rd in a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $8,889. His new ranking is 30th, and he was previously 25th.
Player rdscrsn came storming into the rankings update, picking up eight spots. He had an enormous win in the FTOPS Event #13, taking 4th place and $148,325. He is now ranked 31st. Shaundeeb finds himself as the topic of discussion yet again, as he climbed ten spots in order to take over 35th. He made seven more final tables and cashed for over $30k. His biggest win was in the PokerStars $25k guaranteed, which he took down for $12,175.
The next three players are jpapola, basebaldy (pictured right), and goodvibe. jpapola made two final tables last week and improved by five. He is now 39th. basebaldy made one final table and had six other cashes helping him jump up twelve spots into 43rd. goodvibe had four cashes for almost $18k. He went deep in the FTOPS Event #13 but was eliminated in 21st for $6,980. He also took 2nd in the PartyPoker Friday Special for $5,677.
The last player to be mentioned in the top 50 is dabadestchic. A big 5th place finish in the FTOPS Event #14 for $21,050 puts him in 46th, eight spots better than before.
In the second half of the rankings, eight players made their presence known by either moving up drastically or by breaking the top 100. eisenhower1 (pictured left) falls under the first category. His extreme move upward by 16 spots is accompanied by an equally extreme score. Specifically, he had an impressive 5th place finish in the FTOPS Main Event for $90,261.
Bill Ivey jumped ten places into 67th. Last week he won a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $43,700. Player itssuited aka aaaaaaaa broke the top 100 and in a big way. He came roaring into the rankings with a win in the FTOPS Main Event for $385,937. As if this wasn't enough, he also won a $109 Rebuy for $36,218 and placed 5th in another for $10,560. Can you say sick? itssuited is ranked 72nd.
The next two players are Nutstr84444 (pictured right) and JayPez. Nuts advanced 11 spots, in most part due to a nice 2nd place finish in a PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $27,952. He also made three other final tables for an additional $11.5k. He now sits at 76th. JayPez is new to the rankings and made a good first impression with three final tables in his top 100 debut.
