Carter "ckingusc" King Wins WCOOP Main Event

By dhubermex | Published Sep 22 2008, 08:40 PM

The 2008 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Event concluded Monday evening with PocketFiver Carter ckingusc King (pictured) taking home the championship bracelet and $1,265,432!  With that cash, Carter earns the largest online tournament cash ever by a PocketFives.com member following a 5-way final table chop.  The 22 year old professional poker player from South Carolina almost ensured a spot in the P5's Rankings in upcoming weeks thanks to a whopping 3,305.3 PLB Points he racked up with the victory.  Carter's championship effort capped off a WCOOP Series in which PocketFivers took home $9.87 million from final table appearances alone -- while winning 13 of 33 events.  (For a complete list of 2008 WCOOP final table cashes by P5'ers, click here).

The current #2 ranked online tournament player in the world, Alex AJKHoosier1 Kamberis (pictured), finished 3rd in the WCOOP Main Event; earning $782,542 that was awarded as a result of the chop.  Alex is a Contributing Writer for PocketFives.com whose poker strategy articles can be found by accessing our Poker Articles content section.  He's poised to reclaim the overall PLB lead in this week's rankings update and could very well take over the #1 worldwide ranking on Wednesday.    There were three other PocketFivers at the WCOOP Main Event final table.  Sweden's Sumpas won $415,150 for 6th place as he outlasted fellow member klslcz who finished 7th for $305,900.  Nikolaus Kovi99 Kovacs of Austria took home $121,268 for 9th place.

The 2008 WCOOP marked the largest cash prize pool ever in an online poker tournament series, and easily surpassed its $30,000,000 total guarantee.  PokerStars has gained a reputation among many online poker players as the most secure site with an excellent customer support team.  PocketFives.com congratulates all PocketFivers who cashed in this year's WCOOP!

I believe it was a $30M guarantee for the entire series, which was surpassed.

Well done Carter and AJK.

supa_donk,

Yes.  The 2008 WCOOP had a total guaranteed prize pool of $30,000,000 which was easily surpassed.  The Main Event alone was a $10,000,000 guaranteed event.

Congrats to all PocketFivers who cashed in this year's WCOOP!
