JohnnyBax Wins FTOPS Event 15

By Dan | Published Nov 13 2008, 12:29 PM |

On Wednesday night, one of the most familiar names in all of poker captured victory in the 15th event of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. Cliff JohnnyBax Josephy, a former number one player on the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings, took down the $216 Pot Limit Omaha High-Low tournament, banking $46,125. PocketFivers actually finished 1-2-3 in that event, with Jack Sevens and Gustav Langner placing second and third, respectively. The top 108 spots paid out in the Full Tilt Poker tournament. Let’s take a look at the results from Wednesday’s action on the FTOPS X felts.

Cliff JohnnyBax Josephy is a World Series of Poker bracelet winner, having captured his coveted piece of hardware by virtue of winning a $1,500 buy-in Seven Card Stud tournament in 2005. He finished fourth in a $1,500 buy-in Seven Card Razz tournament in 2006 for $39,080. A member of the UltimateBet Star Players Team, Josephy was the runner up in the 2006 installment of the UB-sponsored Aruba Poker Classic. Devon Miller ultimately triumphed in that tournament. Josephy also made a deep run in the 2008 WSOP Main Event, finishing 386th out of 6,844 players; Danish poker pro Peter Eastgate claimed the top spot late Monday night.

Josephy was number one on the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings for over a year. The now-36th ranked player finished second in the Super Tuesday on PokerStars for nearly $60,000 in July and won the $100 rebuy on the same site a month earlier for $33,000. He’s the owner of a pair of Triple Crowns and has the 11th best Pro Poll ranking. Josephy is an instructor at PokerXFactor.com, a popular poker training site.

Coming in second place in Event #15 was PocketFiver Jack Sevens. The market research specialist from Northborough, Massachusetts took home $29,213 for his efforts. Right behind him was Gustav Langner, who finished third and cashed for $21,628. Last month, Langner placed second in the $100 buy-in Turbo Hundo on Full Tilt Poker for $3,800 and took third in the $109 buy-in $35K Guaranteed on PokerStars in August for another $3,800. The Brazilian is a lawyer by trade, according to his PocketFives.com Profile.

In Event #16, a $322 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Six-Max tournament with rebuys, PocketFiver Jonathan xMONSTERxDONGx Karamalikis finished in second place, pocketing a healthy $157,084. There were 1,032 entrants in Event 16 and the top 120 spots paid out. Karamalikis is ranked 83rd on PocketFives.com and won the $100 rebuy on PokerStars in March for $66,000. He also took second in the Sunday 500 in late September for $66,500. The Australian native won the $150 buy-in $40K Guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker in June for $26,000.

Ranked player govshark2 nabbed fourth in Event #16, cashing for $83,627. He’s had an impressive run through Sunday major tournaments recently, winning the Sunday Million last month for $184,500 and taking second in the $750K Guaranteed on Full Tilt in August for $86,000. He finished third in the Sunday Second Chance on PokerStars in August for $30,000 and won the Full Tilt $90K Guaranteed for $23,800.

Finally, 11th ranked player eisenhower1 made the final table and finished sixth in Event 16, earning $38,423. In July, he took down the Sunday Warm-Up for $97,000. One month later, he logged a $64,000 cash for finishing fifth in a $322 rebuy FTOPS event. In October, the PocketFiver brought home a total of $56,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings.
