PocketFives.com, the online poker authority, produces a weekly Podcast covering the spectrum of the online poker world. The show features interviews with some of the greatest minds in online poker, along with the latest news from major poker tournaments, and a look at the latest industry developments. The show premiered on March 30, 2006 and airs weekly. Recently, Citadel Commerce, “one of the most recognized payment processing brands in the industry” according to its website, began sponsoring the show. The union of these two brands represents the growth of poker as a true American pastime.
Past show guests include 2004 World Series of Poker Champion Greg Raymer, who discussed his online poker experience. Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) joined the show in June to discuss the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (H.R. 4411), a bill that would curb online poker and internet gambling in the United States. On the same topic, Poker Players Alliance President Michael Bolcerek spoke on the importance of the PPA in the online poker community. Professional poker players have joined the show as well. Annie Duke, probably the most well-known female poker professionals, came on the show to talk about her love of PocketFives.com, the ongoing lawsuit with the World Poker Tour, and advice for aspiring poker pros. Annie is an active member of PocketFives.com and was a very popular guest. Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg, who won the $1,000 No Limit Hold’Em event in this year’s World Series of Poker, discussed the moments following his big win.
Several industry executives have also appeared on the show. Lee Jones, one of the executives for PokerStars.com, provided insight into the business side of the online poker industry. Jones is one of the masterminds behind tournaments on PokerStars.com, which regularly elicits PocketFives.com members for input. Scott Pendergrast, owner of PokerXFactor.com, one of the leading online training sites for poker, came on to discuss his staff, many of whom are PocketFives.com members. This site has proved invaluable in training thousands of poker players nationwide.
Citadel Commerce’s flagship product, the myCitadel Wallet Secure Swipe, is a device that plugs into any computer’s USB port and allows the user to deposit into an “eWallet” instantly using his or her credit card. From there, many users can download into their favorite online poker sites. “It’s a perfect match for our members,” said PocketFives.com President Cal Spears. “The accounts are free and you can have access to your money instantaneously. It’s truly a unique product.” Citadel prides itself on being a leader in security, so users can rest assured their information remains safe. Each episode of the show will feature a “myCitadel Wallet Corner” to discuss the latest news and promotions from the company.
