On Wednesday night, the Legends of Poker event from Season Five aired on The Travel Channel. Joe Pelton walked away $1.6 million richer after his A-7 suited cracked pocket sixes. This past week, a new group of players descended on The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California for Season Six of the
Legends of Poker. 485 poker players coughed up $10,000 each for the event, which will be broadcasted by GSN as part of the World Poker Tour’s new arrangement.
PocketFivesLive.com, which covers online poker players in the biggest live events, was at the scene following the action. In the end,
Joe Sebok finished seventh and five other PocketFivers cashed. Veteran Dan Harrington took down the event.
Sebok (pictured at right) had the dubious honor of being the bubble boy at the Legends of Poker. Earier in the day, he took a bad beat at the hands of eventual runner up David "The Dragon" Pham when his pocket tens lost to A-9. In a scenario that was very similar, Sebok opened for 120,000 and Tom Schneider raised enough to make Joe decide for all his chips. Once it folded to him, Joe quickly announced all in and Schneider immediately called and Sebok flipped up pocket queens. Tom showed A-J of spades and Sebok was in position to double up to over 1.5 million. The flop was perfect for Joe, but with the ace of clubs on the turn, his hopes of making the WPT final table were dashed. The river blanked out for Sebok and the faces his many fans immediately took a somber tone.
PocketFivesLive.com Tournament Reporter Court Harrington comments on Sebok’s play: “Joe is playing amazing poker, has taken his game to an even higher level, and continually puts himself in situations to win tournaments. So far, he has come out on the short end of the stick in some tough situations, but if he keeps getting deep in tournaments, forcing other players to make huge mistakes and making very few mistakes of his own, it won’t be long until he has many titles under his belt.”
Peter "Nordberg" Feldman (pictured at right) was eliminated in 13th place, also by Schneider. Pham had opened the pot for 60,000 and after Schneider called, Feldman pushed in for just over 250,000 from the big blind. After Pham folded, Schneider made the call and Feldman's A-10 was up against Schneider's K-Q. Feldman's hand looked good on the ragged flop, but with a king on the turn, Schneider took the lead and was able to eliminate Feldman in 13th place for $43,440. Harrington weighs in: “Another solid showing for Feldman. Tournament after tournament, he brings his ‘A’ game and puts other players to the test.”
Other cashes by PocketFivers included Peter "number1pen" Neff (pictured at right), who finished in 29th for $20,575. Barry Greenstein placed 31st for $20,575. Harrintgon comments on Greenstein’s second day of play: “Barry was around 25,000 chips and within an hour he had 400,000. He crushed his table for the last half of Day 2 and showed why he is considered one of the best poker players to play the game.”
Jordan "iMsoLucky0" Morgan and Justin "Looshle" Pechie (pictured at right) were eliminated 33rd and 34th, respectively, for the same amount. “Pechie was a short stack on the money bubble, but managed to grind out and move all the way up to 34th. He was one card away from doubling up to over 100,000 chips and being back in a more comfortable spot in the tournament. He ended up losing the hand and was eliminated, but overall the Legends of Poker was a very good showing for Pechie.”
