Player Spotlights: Rankings Data

By Lenny | Published Oct 19 2006, 01:25 PM
With the release of the Rankings Data, browsing profiles is just too much fun, so we decided to do a series of articles about this exciting new product. The first article featured two ranked players and a rising star (Tmay420, ocrowe, and LUVEMnLEAVUM). Today, I'd like to take a closer look at some Pocketfivers who are currently not in our rankings but have been putting up some very respectable numbers. In the spirit of the Battle of the Ages, I bring you *WhoTheHell*, a 19 year old phenom from Norway, and jimquig, a seasoned veteran and member of the "Old Guys" team.

I don't know if it's possible for an 18 year old girl to have a protege, nor do I know if *WhoTheHell* is simply a fan of his fellow Norwegian, Annette_15, but one thing is clear: both can play poker. *WhoTheHell* currently has over 3,000 Pocketfives Leaderboard points for the Tri-Monthly leaderboard, which will play a key role in determining rankings. You can now easily see which scores are counted for the rankings, as they are highlighted in gold. Only the top 40 scores count, and only 24 can be from one site, so you will occasionally notice a slightly lower score counting for the rankings. This is because that player has already used up his or her allotted scores for one site.

The Battle of the Ages has provided a lot of entertainment for the poker community, as top players from the under 25 and over 30 crowd attempt to prove themselves to be the superior poker talents. I suppose that only in Online poker would being over the age of 30 put you in a group titled "Geezers," but it seems most of the Old Guys' team wear that title proudly. jimquig is no different, and he has provided a result in the crucial wins category where the two teams are currently tied at 5 apiece. As far as Pocketfives rankings go, jimquig has certainly been putting up some strong numbers the past three months. Watch our for him in the new rankings or in future weeks.
