The series of tournaments at the World Series of Poker are intense. The 53 events leading up to the Main Event have all the drama and suspense any player could ask for… but it all pales in comparison to the Main Event.
For the $1,500 bracelet events the Amazon room and surrounding area is packed for the first few hours of the day as thousands of players and a smattering of fans crowd in hoping for poker glory. By 2pm enough of the field has earned their walking papers to thin things out and make space available.
Once Day 1A of the Main Event gets close, everything gets crowded and stays that way for over a week. Each of the 4 day ones will bring somewhere in the range of 2,000 players and the 20k starting stacks will keep a larger portion of the field around longer. And as soon as the first Day 1 is over there are 3 more coming right behind it, followed by combined Day 2 fields for the next two days that will be just as large.
With the increase in the number of players also comes a large jump in the number and stamina of spectators. Something about the Main Event gives onlookers the resilience to crowd the rails hour after hour watching friends, family, and big name pros try to work their way through the field.
PocketFivesLive has been covering all the action from day 1 of the WSOP and will be out in full force for the Main Event. If you are playing make sure to Register Here. Once you register you will receive and email that includes a number where you can text message updates and information. With the crowds of people and all the new faces the job of locating and covering players becomes even more difficult, so please make sure to send in your starting day, table, and seat before you start play as well as sending as many updates as you feel comfortable with.
Once you register also make sure to let everyone interested in your progress know they can follow your action at PocketFivesLive.com. The P5sLive team looks forward to continuing to follow all the players we have met at the WSOP so far and also to meeting the new faces that inevitably show up for the Main Event.
Once again, the link to register for coverage is available here, and we welcome all players to sign up whether you be a top ranked online pro or a novice playing in your first live tournament. Any of you forum lurkers out there that might be playing are welcome too, just sign up for a PocketFives account and then register for coverage at PocketFivesLive.
Best of luck to everyone, lets have a PocketFiver take the Main Event bracelet this year so both the WSOP Main Event and WSOP Europe Main Event bracelet will be held by PocketFivers.
