For poker players and fans, there is no time of year as exciting as the World Series of Poker. Starting on May 30th the poker world will converge at the Rio in Las Vegas and the action will continue all the way into mid-July. For many players that have cut their teeth in online play, a WSOP event can represent their first foray into the live arena. For other online pros, the WSOP is the one time of year they can find enough value in live tournaments to leave the multi-tabling and online grind behind. For the hybrid players that are becoming so prevalent, the WSOP is just the best time of year with event after event, soft fields, and everything all happening in one place.
PocketFivesLive will be in Vegas for the duration of the series, covering all the events. For anyone playing in an event and interested in being covered on PocketFivesLive, you can Register Here for coverage.
In order to handle the immense size and intensity of the WSOP, P5sLive has brought on a team of 5 reporters along with Court Harrington to cover the events. The team will work in shifts to give as comprehensive coverage as is possible.
Team members Adam Johnson, Crystal Quibell, Jill Harrison, Brett Collson and Jessica Welman will be in Vegas for the duration of the WSOP. Any PocketFivers playing events should make the effort to introduce themselves to the team
Brett Collson is a sports writer and editor from New York. He's been playing poker seriously since he was a teenager, cutting his teeth in underground card rooms and pool halls to make a living -- at least that's what he tells people as an intimidation tactic. Brett can normally be found playing mid-stakes sit and go's online and follows the high-stakes MTT scene very closely.
Crystal Quibell will be making her first trip to Vegas and is looking forward to being able to combine her passion and profession while also getting to explore Las Vegas.
Adam Johnson has been playing poker for 6 years. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 04 with a Journalism degree and has been freelance writing since, covering the Missouri men's basketball team in college and covering high school sports for local newspapers since graduating. In the summer of 07 he worked for Bluff and Harrahs, writing feature stories at the WSOP.
Jill Harrison and Jessica Welman round out the team. Both have poker experience and are excited to be working around the premier event of the year in the poker world.
