The
PocketFivesLive.com staff, fresh off coverage of the World Poker Tour’s Five Diamond World Poker Classic, will travel to Nassau in The Bahamas for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. This $7,800 buy-in WPT event, which takes place at the world-famous Atlantis Resort and Casino, will kick off on January 5. The final table will be played out on January 10. Last year’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was won by Steve Paul-Ambrose, a novice poker player who currently attends the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Also making the final table were runner up Brook Lyter; poker pro David Singer, who finished sixth in the $50,000 HORSE event at the 2006 World Series of Poker; Michael Higgins; Anders Henriksson; and Aurangzeb Sheikh. Paul-Ambrose took home $1.3 million. British pro poker player John Gale won the 2005 event for just under $900,000 and Gus Hansen took down the 2004 PCA for nearly a half million dollars.
“The PCA is a great event for people interested in the best players at PocketFives.com,” said PocketFives.com Chief Editor Adam Small. “A large contingent of the top online players participates every year, and it's a great poker event and social event for the online poker crowd.” PocketFivers already entered in the event include Sean “BigSwing” Johnson (pictured at left) and Blair Rodman. Other PocketFivers include Colson10, ImSoLucky0, Ian J, former number one ranked PocketFiver JohnnyBax, KrazyKanuck, Nordberg, LUHMAN, PearlJammer, World Series of Poker Bracelet Winner Jon “Pokertrip” Friedberg, Roothlus, Tmay420, and TranquilChaos. These and other players represent a veritable “who’s who” of the online poker greats.
Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul comments on last year’s PCA: “The lobby on Sunday afternoon was by far the greatest collection of poker minds I have ever experienced in one room playing online poker.” Saul will be competing in his second PCA this year.
After a week in sunny Nassau, the PocketFivesLive.com team will head to the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica for the World Poker Open. Located a half hour south of Memphis, Tennessee, Tunica is the largest collection of casinos between Atlantic City and Las Vegas. The Gold Strike Casino is the tallest building in the state.
