Rankings Update: Annette Continues to Rise

By Adam | Published Dec 21 2006, 02:53 AM

Annette_15, now number 1 in the 3-month sliding PLB, continues to rack up wins, and she's now picked up enough votes in the pro poll to boost her to the number 2 spot in the rankings.  Upon hearing the news of her rise, her response was, "just one more spot to go."

Annette has been the hottest MTT player on the net over the last few months.  In typical fashion, she won both a $50 rebuy and a $100 rebuy on Stars last week, as well as a $30 rebuy on UB.  The week before, she won a Full Tilt $150, and overall, she has 8 first place finishes in the last 3 months that qualify for the rankings.

ChuckSty continues his rise toward the top this week, creeping up into the top 15.  His outstanding PLB score also continues to climb, as he seems to be putting up at least one 100+ point score each week.

Another player that's quickly on the rise is Gotskillz?.  He's had a number of solid finishes, and he seems to be getting better every week.  His December has been particularly impressive, including 4 final tables in Sunday majors (UB twice, Stars, and Party) and a second place finish in the Stars $150.

JINXY_MONKEY had a nice rankings jump after a very solid weekend on PokerStars, which included wins in the Sunday $100 rebuy and $30 and $100 freezeouts, as well as 2nd in another $100 freezeout.  Right behind him in the new rankings update is hoodini10, who we all know won three different $100 rebuys the previous weekend.  As is the case, due to the use of the "previous ranking" component, hoodini's wins from the previous week have given him yet another boost in this week's update, all the way up to number 27.

Some other noteable movers in the top 50 include Martine23, now ranked 34th, Triple Crown winner Deuce2High, who jumped up to number 36, mr. menlo, ranked 38th, arbianight, now ranked 40th, MrSmokey1, who stepped up 5 spots to number 47, and tnetter, the likely winner of the 2006 TLB on Stars, who had a big leap of 11 spots to number 50.

In the next 50, one of the most noteable jumps was made by #1PEN, who's no stranger to the rankings or success in general at the tables.  His big win in the Stars $300 (worth $50k) helped boost him up 22 spots to number 55.  Similarly, Andy McLEOD jumped 30 spots to number 67 after a week that included a wins in the Full Tilt $100 and the UB $200k Guaranteed.

Newcomers were scarce this week, but there were a few.  PJSNEAKS moved in at number 96 after a week that included a couple final tables on Stars.  Quaid745579 and x2then ventured back into the rankings after short absences, and Full Tilt $500k winner Like7 took hold of the 100th spot after cashing for a whopping $117k in the weekend event.

Keep an eye out for all future rankings updates.  Happy holidays, everyone!

About Adam

I was one of the original P5ers... Before this site existed, my friends Cal, Riley, and I were poker enthusiasts/railbirds who played primarily low stakes cash games and tournaments. We were all fresh off graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, loved poker, and wanted to become a part of the poker world. For years I managed the rankings system on this site and all of the content you would see on the front page. I now am mostly removed from the day-to-day operations of the site and am primarily focused on our company's rakeback business (including the rakeback section of PocketFives). I still take a very active interest in the site, and you'll often see me responding to threads in the forums on topics ranging from how to play AK out of position to what I think is the next legislative step regarding online poker in the US. I live in Escazu, Costa Rica about 5 minutes from our company's office. I primarily play live poker now, but you can still occasionally find me at the online tables, primarily as cassowv on Full Tilt or AdamP5s on Bodog. If you see me around the forums or at the tables, be sure to say hi and tell me how I played my hand wrong ;)
