Three PocketFives.com members made the final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #45 ($10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em), led by Eric basebaldy Baldwin (pictured), who placed 3rd for just under $260,000 only days after he won WSOP Event #34 ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em) for $521,932. Besides scoring huge in major live poker tournaments, Eric has had quite a bit of success at the online poker tables as well. So far in '09, he's had runner-up performances in the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance and Nightly Hundred Grand tournaments for $33,700 and $27,100 respectively. Late last year, Eric took down the Full Tilt Poker $750k Guaranteed for $132.8k; his largest online tournament cash to date.
Finishing 5th in WSOP Event #45 for $138,375 was J.C. PrtyPsux Alvarado (pictured), who has quickly become one of today's rising superstars in live and online poker. PocketFivesLive reporter Jessica Welman, who was on-scene at last night's final table, had the following to say about JC's performance: "The more I see of J.C. at this year's WSOP the more I feel like he is really in a good zone for playing cards. He is playing aggressively without being reckless, really paying attention to what his opponents are doing, and, all in all, playing some really impressive poker." PrtyPsux made online poker headlines in April when he won the PokerStars SCOOP Mid-Stakes ($1,000+50) Main Event for $502,000. Darryl DFish Fish also final-tabled the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em event; earning $77,136 for 9th place.
Joshua SDouble Schlein (pictured) cashed for $48,028 in 5th place in Event #46 ($2,500 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo). Jessica Welman had a chance to watch some of SDouble's play at last night's final table. "Josh dominated most of the final day of play in the Omaha H/L event and were it not for a tough run of cards and some really big betting limits, he could have easily taken down the bracelet. He played with patience and made good decisions and it resulted in an impressive finish for him." PocketFiver James Flushy Dempsey of the United Kingdom finished 14th in that event for $12,667.
As of Friday morning, PocketFivers had taken home over $16.8 million
and 13 WSOP bracelets after 45 events and appear poised to break last
year's record of over $25 million in WSOP earnings. Final table action continues today with the $2,500 Mixed Hold'em Event #47, as Randy Randers Haddox and Barry Greenstein (barryg1) compete for over $278,800 in first place prize money.
