Consistency Pays Dividends

By Published Jun 07 2006, 09:47 PM

With so many top-notch online players, it has become difficult for the Podcast staff to choose just one or two personalities each week to interview.  This week, we decided to go with two of the most-consistent online tournament players in the world: Ken ‘isuck123’ Goldin and Daniel ‘B_O_K_E’ Bokesch.

Ken Goldin (isuck123, PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player Ranking #35) is in a league of his own when it comes to personality.  A natural public speaker and a genuine human being, Ken is seldom recognized for the helpful and insightful individual he truly is.  This probably has a lot to do with his antics at the online tables that have alienated more than a few poker players – as he often berates his opponents for “winning hands they shouldn’t win”.  Whether he’s flooding the Bad Beat (or other) Forums with countless tales of woe or fending-off virtual personal attacks, Ken is a shoe-in to retain his status as a lightning rod for debate.  But don’t let all that fool you… “isuck123” is one of the most-capable Online tournament players in the world, and one can only cringe at the thought of facing Ken when he eventually gains control of his emotions at the table; and thus improves his game even more.

Daniel Bokesch (B_O_K_E, PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player Ranking #39) got his start in cash games, and didn’t really take tournaments seriously until a fellow online player wagered $5,000 that he couldn’t become a ranked tournament player within 90 days.  Dan won that bet and made the conversion from successful cash game player to tournament specialist… and hasn’t looked back.  Many of our listeners will appreciate Dan’s interview this week, as he takes us through a step-by-step process of how he views different stages in Online multi-table tournaments.  Most (successful) poker players are unwilling to share even vague personal strategies with fellow players in fear of losing a percentage of overall expectation in the process.  While Dan’s insights are unlikely to provide his everyday opponents with much of an edge, any “mid-level” tournament player looking to improve his/her game will certainly welcome them.

As the Podcast enters its 11th week of existence, our Team has obtained a deeper understanding and appreciation of our responsibility to the Online Poker Community.  In less than three months, the show’s Ratings have increased 3-fold with a steady rise in listeners each week.  We embrace this commitment to our Members & Visitors, and vow to represent the voice of Online Poker Players everywhere in a manner that is prudent and effective.

Thank you for making the PocketFives.com Podcast a success!
