This week's Podcast features an interview with professional poker player Chris "Fox" Wallace.
The online poker industry in 2002 was shaped differently than today. At the time, Paradise Poker received the most traffic, while Planet Poker and Party Poker battled for 2nd place. In the middle of personal turmoil, and with a need to focus on something positive, "Fox" deposited at Planet Poker and began playing small stakes Limit Texas Holdem.
Chris Wallace had already read a few poker books before he started playing poker online for real money, and with a little encouragement from longtime friend Adam Stemple (known as 'hatfield13' online), he soon moved up in limits. Within three years, "Fox" had become a leading cash game player across the major sites, and was gaining recognition as a writer and poker strategist. When he became a member of PocketFives.com, the staff welcomed him as a contributing writer and blogger. Fox has over 80 articles published here on the site, including the ever-popular 'Bankroll Management' write-up that can be read by clicking on the Strategy Archives link. He was also the recipient of the 2005 PocketFives.com Presto Award for Best Writer.
Listeners will get an in-depth perception of Chris both professionally and personally during this week's Podcast. A guitar builder, and former taxicab driver, this week's guest had to work his way through the ranks the hard way... with a lot of work and dedication. He even credits the game of poker with saving his life during that stressful time years ago when he was going through a divorce.
Today, "Fox" enjoys the company of his girlfriend, who kindly encourages his hobby of rebuilding everything from guitars, to the engine of his 1967 Galaxy. Not long ago, both he and his gal helped each other kick the smoking habit... quite an accomplishment for anyone, poker player or not. He admits he should balance his time more effectively, but also concedes that staying busy is a positive trait for most people.
Chris "Fox" Wallace is the co-owner of www.pokerfox.net, a website dedicated to helping its members improve their poker games. He is also a lead instructor at www.thepokercamp.com, and a staff instructor at www.realpokertraining.com. His much-anticipated book, Crushing No-Limit Holdem (a guide to beating cash games), is due for release in June of this year.
