This week's Podcast features interviews with 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker and recently signed PokerStars sponsored player Maria Maridu Mayrinck of Brazil.
The 2008 World Championship of Online Poker begins today and boasts an unprecedented $30,000,000 guaranteed prize pool; which is by far the largest for any online series of its type. Chris Moneymaker's WSOP victory in 2003 provided the spark for the growth of poker into the mammoth it is today. In his second P5's Podcast interview, Chris talks about the WCOOP and PokerStars' position as arguably the premier poker site on the internet.
Maria Maridu Mayrinck signed up for a PocketFives.com account in 2006 as a recreational poker player and PokerStars blogger. Nearly two years later, she has become a sponsored player for PokerStars who will represent Brazil and all of Latin America in major live tournaments. Maria has had impressive online tournament scores online as well as three cashes in 2008 WSOP events. However, she is quick to point out that she doesn't consider herself an expert poker player. Maria discusses her sponsorship deal with Stars in her interview this week and answers listener questions.
