This week's Podcast features interviews with "Tuff_Fish" Tony Sandstrom, and Scott "Steely" Wyler.
Unless you've been completely out of touch with online poker in the last eight months, the name "Tuff_Fish" is easily recognizable and synonymous with humor. Not too long ago, 61-year-old Tony Sandstrom was creating a user name on PartyPoker when he came up with the name "Tuff_Fish". A few months later, with a CardRunners.com membership in hand, Tony ran his $500 poker bankroll up to $15,000+. It was at this time that "Tuff_Fish" decided he would share some of his poker knowledge with the rest of the community.
With an enormous amount of confidence, Tony purchased software that allowed him to record his table(s) in real time while he offered tidbits on how to own. But alas, the cards stopped cooperating, and he began to tilt. After losing 4 buy-ins over a period of 150 hands, Tony couldn't let go of Pocket 7's versus his opponent's Ace-King (on a board with two Kings), and the rest is history.
When the Tuff_Fish videos caught fire, Tony found that life as a celebrity could become quite complicated, so he changed his screen name on the sites he currently plays. His website, www.fstln.com, would have featured new Tuff_Fish videos, but Tony's webmaster skills couldn't keep up with the growing demand, and he accidentally deleted the new material. Visitors to his website can still purchase T-shirts and stuff, proudly modeled by Daughter Fish.
Scott “Steely” Wyler has been one of the most consistent multi-table tournament players in the online poker community for as long as PocketFives.com has ranked online tournament players. With outright wins or chops in 38 MTT's (including two "Super" tournaments on PartyPoker), “Steely” is a part-time poker pro with a 9 to 5 job in the hedge fund business. Our interview with Scott will focus on his online tournament success, as well as winning online satellite tournaments to eight major live events.
