At the turn of the millenium, online poker was practically nonexistent when compared to the current volume of players the industry enjoys. After all, the game of poker was generally viewed as something that was either played casually with family members for coins, or played in smoke-filled back rooms populated with fast-moving hustlers on both sides of the felt. Chris Moneymaker's improbable victory fueled the growth of online poker. His subsequent representation of the game helped legitimize it in the eyes of mainstream America and the entire world.
Despite criticism from some hard-core poker players, Chris Moneymaker continues to be genuine, humble, and pleasant to the poker community. Due to business obligations with www.moneymakergaming.com and other projects, his poker schedule is limited to only a handful of major tournaments per year. Our interview with Chris will revisit a couple of his best moments during the 2003 WSOP Main Event. He'll also offer some advice for tournament players who suddenly find themselves with a windfall win and are unsure of how to proceed.
