Paradise Poker is one of the hottest tournament sites right now, with large guaranteed prizepools every day and a substantial variety from which to choose. The nightly $80k guaranteed (which guaranteed merely $35k at the beginning of 2005) is one of the two biggest prizepools on the net almost every day of the week. Most of the top ranked players frequent "Dise" for this tournament, some of the other large prizepools, and the WPT satellites, but there are also plenty of smaller buy-in tournaments. Here are a few reasons to sign up if you haven't already:
1. You'll find some of the softest opponents on the net. When the blinds are 10k-20k and a guy with a 90k stack limps in under the gun and then folds to a raise, you know you're in donkey land. Now that so many P5ers play at Dise, you'd think the competition would be tougher, but it seems that the fish have migrated there just as quickly. The TV advertising provides a lot of beginners on a regular basis. Despite the fast blind structure, many of the top players find that out of all the major sites, they are most consistently able to win at Paradise.
2. The tournament selection and prizepools are growing all the time. Dise is constantly running satellites for all of the bigger tournaments on the site, even the $30 rebuys. If you're a low stakes player, you can get into an $80k guaranteed tournament for only $2 and have a chance at winning more than $20k. If you're a high stakes player, you've gotta be happy that they're giving so many people a chance to get into these things--more money in the prizepool is always a good thing! Some of the other tournaments that players are getting into for as little as $5 include WPT satellites and satellites for Paradise's own upcoming live tournament in the bahamas. There are several rebuys every day, ranging in buy in from $5 to $30, and there are also freezeouts of various nature (7-Stud, Stud High-low, Omaha, Omaha High-Low, LHE, NLHE), ranging from $1 to $300 to enter. I noticed specifically that there are several Omaha 8/b tournaments every day that all seem to get a pretty good turnout, especially compared to most other sites.
3. The sit & go's and cash games are always running. Paradise can't quite compete with Party or Stars in terms of volume, but unlike most of the other sites out there, it won't take you long to start up a sit & go at any hour of the night at most levels. The same goes for finding a good cash game. As I'm writing this, it's one of the least busy times of the day (about 7 a.m. EST), and there are 4 tables of $40/80 hold em going, as well as 3 $20/40 tables, a $15/30 table, a $10/20 table, an $8/16 table, 5 $5/10 tables, 5 $3/6 tables, and a large number of tables at the smaller limits. The NL scene is bumpin too, including 10 different $1-2 NL tables right now. We don't talk much about Paradise cash games on P5s, but they're definitely worth checking out.
4. We're giving away money. On Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST, we, along with Paradise, are adding 15 $150k guaranteed ($200 buy in) seats to the prizepool of a private satellite tournament just for P5ers! The buy in will be $20, and with a $3k overlay, the players may not even contribute 50% of the prizepool. We're also giving away a hat or t-shirt to any P5er who wins a multi-table tournament on Dise between 1/30 and 2/5, as long as they were registered the day before they won the tournament (satellites are not included). And then on Thursday, we're giving away a $200 seat, a $100 seat, and a $60 seat. All you have to do to be eligible is have your Dise screen name in your P5s profile and be logged into our site at some point on Wednesday or Thursday.
