Blog - An Interesting Week

By Fox | Published Mar 29 2006, 07:13 AM
I was staked in the $1,000 buy-in event on Stars this week, had ups and downs every day, and finally got everything loaded on to my new computer. I worked on a couple of new videos for my site, wrote a little for the book, did some editing, and even got a job writing two more articles for Deal Magazine which looks like it is going to turn into a regular gig. Starting to think I have too much on my plate right now? So is my girlfriend who is none too happy about how much I am working!

The $1k event on Stars was fun, though I got knocked out around 300th which sucked since it only played 225, but my backer who was railing me on Skype the whole time agreed that there was simply nothing to be done about the rotten cards I got and it was amazing that I lasted as long as I did. 1500 people for a prize pool of 1.5 million dollars. Not bad. I'm still a little ticked off that I didn't get half of that 300k first prize.

I've been playing on Prima a little bit this week and I've been surprised at how wild the no-limit games are. Back when I was playing fixed-limit Prima was terrible with very tight games full of bonus whores, but the no-limit cash games are amazing. The players are wild and crazy everywhere at the 2/4 and 3/6 no-limit tables that I was trying out, so it takes guts and patience to beat them, but the money is very good.

I've been playing at Doyle's Room a bit as well where the games are very passive so it's a strange transition. I actually bought the blinds 6 times in a row at a short handed 5/10 no-limit game on Doyle's Room last night. Contrast that with virtually no chance of buying the blinds once at Prima and there are some serious adjustments to be made.

That's my week for ya, I'll be back in a day or two with a quick lesson.

I'll see you at the final table,
Fox
